Hello, my name is... Tara and I live in Tampa FL. I was the 4th member of this book club!
My favorite genres are Fantasy and Historical Fiction. My favorite book is impossible to choose, but it's something around Biting the Sun, Hamlet, or Little Women. See my problem?
The first book I ever read was about a girl with a Unicorn. Followed by the much more f-ed up version of the Little Mermaid Story. My favorite book growing up: My Side of the Mountain.
Excited to meet our newbies! <3, T

Hi, my name's Seán and I'm from Ireland (Drogheda to be specific) and I found out about the Eclectic Readers podcast through Twitter, where I follow other Sunshine Robot hosts.
If I had to chose, I'd say my favourite genre is Science Fiction, though I do enjoy books about Alexander the Great (he's not really a genre unto himself though.) My favourite book is The Dinosaur Hunters by Diana Cadbury (huge dino nut here!) and I don't know the name of the earliest book I read (if I remember correctly it was about an old man who had a leak in his roof so that rain dripped onto his feet while he slept.) The first full length novel I read though, was The Hobbit.

Hi, my name is Megan and I live near Dayton, Ohio! I went to school and was friends with the founding members and after they had expanded to maybe 5 or 6 people I ended up joining! :)My favorite genre....literary fiction? I also really enjoy fantasy but I think I may prefer YA fantasy moreso and as an adult I've always been hesitant to pick out fantasy novels on my own and be disappointed. In middle school and high school I LIVED for historical fiction and could not get enough of Ann Rinaldi!
My mom says the first book I read was Hop and Pop, the first book I really remember reading was a book version of the Down By The Bay song in kindergarten.
I don't know how to choose a favorite book...maybe Lord of the Rings because it was so influential on me? Pride and Prejudice because I still love it and laugh every time I read it? Where the Red Fern Grows - my mom read it aloud to each of my sisters and we are unable to talk about the book without crying (and I am both looking forward to and dreading reading to my son one day!). Or Of Mice and Men, I read it twice when I was 14 years old and a couple of times since then and still love it; also a book that makes me cry to talk about! So, I guess I'm not choosing a favorite but those are some of favorite and most cherished books.
Hi I'm Kim and I live in Chicago! I went to college with several of the members and after apparently receiving more than one invitation to join, I finally did. I recall it happened around the time the 5 year anniversary trip was being planned and I felt too new to vote on a locale. :)I can't really choose a favorite genre as I tend to go through periods of reading one genre and then moving onto another and so on. Currently, I'm so focused on finishing my book bingo board that I'm all over the place! I will say that I tend to enjoy (celebrity) memoirs, historical fiction, YA dystopia, and the occasional good mystery novel.
I know the first book I learned to read was about a bear riding in a hot air balloon. I have no idea what it was called though.
Do I have a favorite book?? I love the Harry Potter books! I used to enjoy Mary Higgins Clark murder mysteries A LOT. I can't think of a book that I tend to reread or have a strong connection to. Not that I don't have favorites-of-the-moment, but apparently I'm still in search of a lifelong favorite.
Hi! I'm Meredith and I live in the DC area. I'm college friends with most of the members, and joined back in October of 2010; the book that month was "The Book Thief." (Awesome book, btw if you haven't read it yet!)
I'm a big fan of Fantasy as well as Literary and Historical Fiction. I don't think I could choose just one book as my favorite, but I love "To Kill A Mockingbird" as well as "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and I could pretty much re-read the "Harry Potter" series all the time. :)
It definitely wasn't the first book I read, but the first strong memory I have of books is when my dad read "The Hobbit" out-loud to my sister and me. He has this oversized hard cover edition illustrated the same as the cartoon version from the 1970s. (Do you guys know what I'm talking about? It was awesome and the Goblins scared the crap out of my sister!) Anyway, that's a little bit about me!

Hello! So I finally have the time to sit down and type an introduction. Oops...
Anyways, I'm Susan and I love in the Colorado in the Denver area. I am one of the founding members. I'm so glad this book club exists because I've made a lot more friends and have been reading all sorts of books!
My favorite genre is fantasy, sci-fi, YA. I love being swept away to a whole different type of world.
My favorite book(s) ever is the Anne of Green Gables series. Yes, it's not fantasy or sci-fi, but it really made a huge impact on me as a teen. I actually didn't get into fantasy until a few years later.
The first book I remember read is Charlotte's Web for school. And despite a spider being a main character, I really do love the book.

Hello there all, name's Ross, from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I have, as of the nonce, not tuned into the podcasts, the existence of which I was only recently made aware. That said, I do intend to rectify that particular shortcoming in the near future rest assured.I can and usually will read most genres of fiction but find myself tugged towards Fantasy,Sc-fi (to a lesser extent), YA, and Historical fiction. I know it sounds terribly cliched and unadventurous to say that my favourite book, or books are The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, although Harry Potter is not very far behind!
The first book I read, gosh I don't know for sure, there have been so many! One of my most vivid early memories was of my father reading Kenneth Grahame's The Wind in The Willows to my sister and I. I still have that copy, as a matter of fact, and it remains one of my fondest reads even though I don't revisit it as often as I'd like.

Welcome, Ross, and nice to meet you! Like you, many of us are Fantasy and Sci-fi fans, and I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on some of our discussions. I think the books you name are fairly influential, so I'd call them classic rather than cliched. :-)
Looking forward to hearing more from you - and hope you like the podcast too!

Welcome Ross! It's great to have you part of our group! =)
Podcasts have been around for a while but I think it's only really took off in the last few years. So, if you can, take a listen. But it will still be great to hear your thoughts on any of the books we read in the group and other books you have read.
Sadly, I have never read Wind in the Willows, but maybe that will change if I read it to my daughter. =)

Heya Jeanette, Sue, thanks very much for your welcomes! I guess cliched would be the wrong word, but I meant to say that I don't really have some obscure little gem of a book that I count as a favourite but then there are many persuasive reasons why LoTR, The Hobbit and Harry Potter are cited as favourites for so many :pTWitW is a charming little anthropomorphic animal fable of sorts, I'd rank it just above Beatrix Potter's little animal stories and close to The Farthing Wood books. Just sifting through IMDB there have been several film adaptations of Grahame's book with stellar casts. I think I've seen at least two, live action and animated.
Hi Ross, Welcome welcome! Glad you could join us! I think you are in the right crowd here. Let us know if you are looking to read anything in particular so we can take it into consideration when we are picking our next books! And I hope you like the newest choice and choose to read with us(hint - it was mine)!
Hello Tara! Aww I feel so welcomed! Just had a peek at th book you suggested and it looks fascinating! I love alternative delivery methods for stories, and graphic novels are right up there. I'll try and sag myself a copy on the way back home from work today :) Currently on the hunt for a good book, just a good solid book that will pull me like an anchor into the depths of a beautifully watery sea of story. Trying to get back into the habit of spending hours on end just reading, which has been difficult with either other media formats proving more interesting when the book isn't that captivating.
Hi everyone! My name is Amanda and I live in Seminole, FL. I used to work with Sue and decided to join the group for the readathon that is currently going on! Though I love to read, I haven't been doing it as much as I like. I recently graduated in August and school took up way too much time along with a lot of other life events that have happened over the past few years. I'm hoping that this group will help me to discover new books and encourage me to read more. And hopefully I'll make some new friends along the way. I like sci-fi, YA, and romance novels. I don't really know what my favorite book is but before I took a break from reading my favorite author was Jodi Piccoult.
I'm looking forward to reading more in 2016 and rediscovering my love of books.

Tell us about yourself - and yes, we definitely want to know the usual: your name and where you're from, how you found us - BUT we shared with you and we want you to share with us. So tell us: your favorite reading genre, your favorite book ever, and the first book you remember reading.
Example:
I'm Jeannette from DC, and I am one of the first members of the book club, invited by Susan and Christina.
My fave genres are Sci-fi and Fantasy, my favorite books ever (IF I have to choose, and I guess I do) are the Narnia series, and the first book I ever read was Little Bear.
Can't wait to meet you all!
