A moan to infinity would have been a better title?

I have ploughed through this book after seeing the film . In retrospect, I'm glad to have read it but didn't warm to Jane . When you marry a profoundly disabled man , you should know or at least suspect what is ahead of you. As a fellow linguist I thought I would have had empathy for her plight but alas, her constant whining negates everything. The book becomes an exercise in trying to justify the curious 'ménage à trois' they lived and to whitewash the author's part in it.

I loved the book. I didn't feel that she whined too much, and even if she did it was after the events happened. She poured all of her past frustrations into the book, telling the story from her point of view.

And people always think they know what they're getting into when taking care of disabled people, but it's so much more than what you see or read about. It's really straining to you physically, mentally and emotionally all at once. I think she's a wonder woman and you should cut her some slack.
