There once was a mouse. He lived in a forest and had many good friends. They all had homes close to each other and they cared for one another. One summer, it was very hot. All the rivers and lakes dried up, leaving the mouse very thirsty. He could not take the thirst much longer so he went to his friend, the rabbit. "Can you please give me some water?" he asked. "No," the rabbit replied. "I don't have enough to give you, but I'm sure the our other friends can spare some." So the mouse went to the bear. He asked again and the bear said, "I do not have any water for you." Finally the mouse walked to the squirrel's home. He asked one more time but the squirrel said, "No, you cannot have any of my water." The mouse walked home and was very sad that his friends wouldn't spare him any water. Eventually the drought passed but the mouse stopped trusting that his friends would be there for him whenever something bad happened.
