message 39: by Doina (new)

Doina | 74 comments I joined this group a while back, but life interfered, and did not manage to post and introduce myself. So this is my introduction. ;-)

1) Favorite place to read: Anywhere I get a chance, but nothing beats a beach in Brazil, under an umbrella, drinking cold mineral water.

2) Favorite genre: Anything I can get my hands on, but prefer classics, mystery and fantasy.

3) Current number of read books: Don't have a clue. The number on Goodreads only reflects books that I own. Can't even begin to imagine everything I read in HS or before.

4) Current number of unread books: On Goodreads? Around 280. Is that an accurate number? Not really. Still have some on the shelves that are not accounted for. Yes, I know, I have a problem.

5) Favorite author: Don't like to play favorites. Too hard to choose.

6) Favorite Poet: Mihai Eminescu.

7) Favorite Book: Again, too hard to choose. If I had to pick, I would go with a classic, and say Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen.

8) Least Favorite Book: Uh huh. See above comment on how I like to read everything. Hard to choose. If I really have to, sticking with the classics again, I would have to say anything by Steinbeck. Don't hate me. I had to read several of his books in HS, and I really resented him for a long time.

9) Book you couldn't finish: I try to finish everything that I start. And if I can't finish them, they are not worth remembering and mentioning.

10) To loan or not to loan: If I care about the book, there is only one or two people that I will trust with it. The ones I don't care about, I just give away to people I think might enjoy them.

11) Member of a bookclub: A couple.

12) New or used: Don't really care. Prefer new, or in really good condition, but since I am in grad school, I can't be too choosy. Want to many books to afford to buy them new. Unless it's a new one in a series, or one that I find that I absolutely cannot live without.

13) Hardcover or Paperback: Prefer hardcovers because of durability, but most of my books are paperback since more can fit on a shelf.

14) Are you a writer: Not even close.

15) Book everyone MUST read in this lifetime: Depends on people's tastes, and where they are in their life.
