Completely agree with jibran's review. I read this book a really long time ago, but I remember being underwhelmed by the writing. I think people who lived in that time or place, or had personal experience with racism may relate to it some, but it really made no lasting impression on me. Agree that it probably did good in a moral sense, addressing an important issue, but for me a novel needs to stir some emotion, and it fell short in this endeavor.
Its been a long time since I read this book for the first time and I'm still spellbound by it. Looking forward to read it again.
It's a lovely read. Viewing this story through the eyes of innocent children makes it so much more special than the sum of its parts.
Since Im new to reading groups on goodreads, can somebody tell me how this works? the discussions and stuff? :)

Excellent book with exceptional writng style.I have read this book a lomg time and stil remeber its vividness in my mind.
I read it. It Is not the second part. It was written before To Kill a Mockingbird. Go Set a Watchman was a rejected manuscript and Harper Lee during most of her life did not want to publish it. Maybe, people around the old lady broke her down for the money.
I liked it, but understand why most people don't.
That was quite interesting to know. I don't think I'll read the other part. I'd like to remember Atticus Fitch as he was in the original. I've read that he's a different man in the new one
Yes, in this book Atticus is very old and he's basically a racist. Jem is dead. Scout is older. So, not a cheerful book by any means. But, there are few flashbacks, when she remembers her childhood. And they are good, bitter sweet, too.
I think someone read those flashbacks and told her to focus on that instead, and the rest is history.
