B.V. Bayly (bvbayly) | 15 comments Hey Everyone :)

Happy to see most of you are enjoying the books. I had a quick question for everyone about Book Three.

I have really learned a lot from you guys with your reviews - both good and bad. I can the pacing issues and where you found things annoying - certain lore, backgrounds, relationships - lots of thing could have been tuned up.

I know having characters develop over five books compared to one certainly creates some issues. I can see that a lot clearer. Especially, with Gabriel. His character development is slow. He isn't perfect - in fact he is annoying, I wrote him that way - but he gets there - I really believe that.

The writing game is an eternal learning process - something we only get better at the more we can step back and look at our books through a reader's eyes. My only goal is to get better and better with each book.

This brings me to my question.

Book Three is twice as fast pace as book two. Even my editor barked at me to put the brakes on at some points. Gabriel certainly is much more grown up in his development and the story only get's better.

Anyhow, my question is simple. Book three comes out on Oct 6th of this year, so it's not too far out. I'm certainly interested in seeing what each of you think of book three. I'm hoping I can learn some more before I finalize book four - at least that would be my hope. But the big question is how many of you would be interested if I offered you book three?

Could we get a good solid amount of people to jump start the reviews for Goodreads and Amazon?

What do you guys think? Especially, those folks that struggled with the first two books on pacing and characters. Would you be interested in Book Three?

I hope you will all think about this honestly. Let me know and we can maybe put somethings together in the near future.

B.V. Bayly (bvbayly) | 15 comments Thank you ladies. I am more than interested in getting some folks involved in some advanced reading and reviews.

I'll see if anyone else is interested from this R&R - if not then I might just send out a message privately to each of you and add you to my alpha reading groups.

I just finalized the typeset and cleaned up another round of typos today. It is going back to the proofer for a final read through then we should be able to talk about getting it to you towards the end of summer.

Cheers!

B.V. Bayly (bvbayly) | 15 comments Hello everyone, I hope this post isn't dead as I have some major news.

I came to cross roads with my publisher and as you know Book Three is set to come out in October of this year. Well, life changes and through a series of events. I am no longer with my publisher. It wasn't negative, we just weren't seeing eye to eye on some issues and I think the direction I want to go will be easier on my own for now.

With that being said, I have wanted to rewrite book one and two for some time. I can tell from a lot of your comments that there are certainly issues and I would like to fix some of that. Also, I have written Book five and some things need adjustments to make it all so much smoother.

So, in light of whats happened with my publisher, I will be rewriting and relaunching the entire series this fall. I am going to maintain the launch date for Book Three as best I can and get some of the alpha groups reading it soon. Hopefully, we can do that with this group.

But the whole point of sharing this with everyone, is I would like to engage in some discussion around the issues with pacing, characters, etc. Each of you has some great points, and I would really like to hear them before I tackle the rewrite. Your feedback would be vital to the changes I make.

I have setup something in my blog. www.bvbayly.com - it's the front page post. Please go and comment about your topic and we can make a page for your post and discuss it through the comments section. If you are interested head over and lets chat. If you're not, then I look forward to sharing the new version in the coming months.

Thanks everyone, I hope this doesn't break any rules. :/

B.V. Bayly (bvbayly) | 15 comments Hello everyone.

I wanted to just take a moment and explain some of the changes in the books for anyone who is re-reading the series. I'll keep out the spoilers and talk generally.

I learned a lot from the reviews many of you did on the first two books. I went through and read all of them. Someone you enjoyed it, others not so much and then some of you sat on the fence. It was a quite mixed bag, but as I went through the reviews I noticed some similarities. I focused the rewrite based on those issues. The results are summarized below:

1 - Gabriel was built an anit-hero, that's the way I made him and his journey to becoming a hero took too long. It didn't happen until book three. After this group finished, I saw Gabriel in book four and realized that was who he should have been all along. So I changed him.

2 - I fixed other characters as well. A lot of the female characters got reworked - to bring out more their qualities as leaders and fighters. They're new strong and empowered - an oversight on my part before, I had left them in the back scene despite their importance.

3 - Adin has been reworked as his origin story didn't blend well with his place by the end of the series. No spoilers.

4 - The pacing and plot got chopped. I deleted the first 29 chapters in book one and replaced it with a new path. We arrive in the same place, but the journey is very different. Book Two - I changed 9 chapters. Scenes and flow changed a lot in the book. I feel the books are tighter, faster, stronger.

I hope you will take the chance to re-read them and please message me about your thoughts. I really learned a lot from this group and I am more than willing for more lessons.

Thank you in advance.

BVB
