Sarah, I have a question - do number of pages come into play when you're calculating points? Do they hold a lot of weight in the scoring, or, is it better to read more books versus more pages? I may pick a few shorter books to help my team move through our first round quicker, unless it's worth it! Sounds horrible but I want to help boost our team a bit :)

I am done with Unearthly for U in the J,U,M,A,N,J,I description can i review it later on today please.
I started The Book of Life tonight, for "read a book starting with a teammate's initial." It's over 700 pages :O so I hope pages play a part in the way they calculate our points!

Do any of you see water on here?"
I enlarged it on my computer and it's still hard to tell. Looks like it might be a barren planet surface, or something? But could be taken as smooth surface of a body of water... If you really want to read it, it is worth asking Sarah over, IMO!
Bookbuyer wrote: "* for every 1000 pages read, the team/player will receive 5 equaliser points."Ohhh okay thank you! I'll try to stick with this book then, it is 703 pages & teeny tiny print!

I might, but I was really just looking up some more books I might be able to do for water since the next book I want to read only came out today and I can't pick it up till tomorrow so I'm going to start on either water or 1995. Thanks though. :D
Sarah gave some examples on how pages play in and two strategies to play this game:Yes, pages will come into play, every 200 pages read is equal to 1 point, but whether or not reading more pages will help you will depend on how things have gone by the end - how many books your team has read, as well as how many books the other teams have read.
If one team reads three books which have 150 pages each, that team will earn 5 points, if another team reads 3 books which are 400 pages each, they will earn 9 points. So the second team will have earned more points for the same 3 descriptions than the first team.
However, if by reading shorter books you are able to cross off more descriptions, then you might be able to earn more points that way. If one team reads three books which are 400 pages long and earns 9 points, but another team reads 8 books which are 150 pages long, then they will earn 14 points.
So I guess basically, the pages will come into play if teams have managed to cross off the same number of descriptions.
Bookbuyer wrote: "Maybe we could do half and half?"I think we should just try to go as fast as possible - just grab a book and read it quick! Buddy reads are worth more points too, so check the June Buddy Reads and the Wanted: Reading Buddies threads first if you're looking for a book to read!! :)
I'll stick with this 700 pg one for now.
Did we lose Ubah!? I don't see her name on Sarah's first post in the Team N Reviews Thread anymore! She commented only 11 hours ago, though...
If only I could buy books I'd read much faster, Reading an ebook slows me down, but there are not so many bookstores here, and the ones that we have sell only non-fiction books, and from fictions they sell only Best-best-sellers like harry potter and game of thrones and twilight(i didn't see anything else lol), and they are in russian mostly but i prefer to read a book in its original language, people here don't read international books that much I guess... :(
I posted on our Team Progress Thread a list of what we're reading sorted by person - I've been wanting this visual so I went ahead and wrote up this post :)

I know for sure I'm going to read Dead Ice by Anita Blake for Hunter if you want to add that to the team progress thread. Also I believe Tati was going to take my 'animal' description since I'm lagging behind.
Edit~A wrote: "I don't knoooow :( She was one of the active readers... Hmmm weird"OH - her name is on Sarah's first post on this Chat Thread, but it is not on Sarah's first post in our Reviews Thread - so maybe we didn't lose her after all!
@Sarah or @Ubah, please confirm! :)
Bookbuyer wrote: "I know for sure I'm going to read Dead Ice by Anita Blake for Hunter if you want to add that to the team progress thread. Also I believe Tati was going to take my 'animal'..."Oh that's right. I moved Part 1 #6 animal from you to Tati.
@Sarah, is it okay if the series has the word "hunter" in it but not the actual book title?? Bookbuyer wants to read Dead Ice (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #24) by Laurell K. Hamilton.
Danielle wrote: "Bookbuyer wrote: "I know for sure I'm going to read Dead Ice by Anita Blake for Hunter if you want to add that to the team progress thread. Also I believe Tati was going to take my 'animal'..."Oh..."
Dead Ice book 24 of the Anita Blake Vampire 'Hunter' series by Anita Blake
Here's Sarah's response that it's okay to read for hunter:
okbuyer wrote: "Is Dead Ice (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #24) by Laurell K. Hamilton okay for >>> "I’ve been in Jumanji! Read a book with the word 'game' or 'play' in the title." The series name is Anita Blake Vampire 'Hunter'"
You can use it for - Watch out for the hunter! Read a book with the words ‘hunter/hunted/hunt’ in the title.

It happened to me on my kindle. if i finish a book late at night I write the review and save it on my kindle as a note on the book that I finished, and then the next morning the darn kindle had deleted both of the notes that i made on the book! really annoying ☹

She's still taking part. That list is possibly not a up-to-date one.

KK. Thanks. :)
As soon as I finish
, which is quite a fast read so far, so I should finish it tonight, I'll tackle that animal description
Which list is it that's wrong? Some of them didn't get updated when I kept having to rearrange teams ☺

Oh great! Thank you!

It's fine to use words that are in a series name ☺

I am signed up for The Martian for the soil one, but, if you'd like to trade me something that is fine with me!

Thanks I might be able to use it for the second or third round then. :)
Bookbuyer wrote: "Thanks I might be able to use it for the second or third round then. :) "Yeah, or round two or three, if we get there!
It would count for boarding school, Read a book starting with one of your teammates initials to save them, Read a fantasy story, or the letter 'U' ☺
Sarah wrote: "It would count for boarding school, Read a book starting with one of your teammates initials to save them, Read a fantasy story, or the letter 'U' ☺"Cool cool. I'll make a note of that so if I end up reading it I'll have some options. :)
So has anyone started on the second round yet? I'm just poking around to see if any of the descriptions are gone yet. :)
Nope! None of us haven't finished the first round yet. I still have you down to read the following four books, so finish those before you sign up for anything for round two, okay? :)Part 2 #8 Read a book published in 1995
Part 2 #9 Read a book with "game/play" in the title
Part 3 #3 Read a book with "hunt/hunted/hunter" in the title
Part 3 #7 Read a book with water on the cover

I have one or two books for 1995 and I think I'll have to read the first book of a series to get the second one for water so I'll probably do that and save it for a later description. I'm less sure for game. I might put it off for a bit and try to find a better book for it.
