Is anyone else watching The Following on Fox? Great show.

I am. I like it a lot so far. They're doing a great job of making Kevin Bacon look like crap. I am finding it to be actually scary at times too, which doesn't happen very often. Like when (view spoiler) That totally creeped me out. :)
I'm enjoying it. I like the fact that there have been bits when its made me jump out of my skin.
The facebook page is great. Everyone is throwing out different theories on who is a follower and who isn't.
Finally a TV show that I can get into. With Walking Dead and now The Following, producers should look at horror more often for television slots. I enjoy the small flashbacks. Almost like Lost except not as confusing. I'm digging the Poe masks and I enjoy trying to guess who is a follower.
I love the whole Poe thing, and I also think there should be more horror TV shows.
I just don't buy that he could create such a devoted following...
I could see it if you look at it from the perspective that he is not taking normal people and turning them into killers, he sifted through a bunch of people on the internet and found the ones that were already leaning in that direction and just gave them a push.
I'd maybe accept the dim-witted security guard, but "pushing" intelligent people into spending YEARS of their lives on a task like posing as gays and living next to someone?Red John was far enough out in left field.

I think that the new agent Debra Parker, who gave Joe the Poe book at the end of episode2, might possibly be a "follower". The look that they shared might be too obvious, but i think that becasue she is so steeped into studying cults, that she is more than invested in the study of them. Also, she replaced the woman agent that was there stating that she messed up, the perfect way to get herself closer to Bacon's chracter and the situation.

With the advent of American Horror Story, I think that there might be more on the way. The problem is that ther are so many viewers watching many of the insipid sitcoms out there.
Earlier this week, I saw a list of potential show pilots thats being presented to all the networks for them to view and decide if they want to go ahead and green light them for a full season. And believe me, next season doesnt look good for new shows.:(

This is a link to one of the most relaible websites I know for movie and TV news. This is where I looked at the shows. Check it out and see if what you think about the programs being presented. It doesnt mean they are the ones actually being chosen but what they have to choose from. Slim pickins Haley.
I was thinking the same thing about that new agent. I mean if they really wanted Joe to suffer, they could have given him some Danielle Steele books, or something.
lol Charlene. It's great to see a show of this quality and subject matter on 'regular' tv. I'm hoping it does well so the networks may finally realize viewers are tired of all the reality garbage and want good tv ~~ even if it scares the crap out of us.I'm also suspicious of the cult expert~but then maybe they made that interaction too obvious to trick us. I'll be watching to find out for sure. and to see what happens with Jordy since Joe obviously expected him to be killed

It could be a reverse psycology making us think the obvious about her. Then again, my very first instinct was to think that the perfect "follower" in there is the the "kid" that is helping Kevin Bacon. He's very excitable, knows everything about Bacon's character and seems to be calling alot of shots behind the scenes, Making himself seem immersed into catching Joe's followers, where I think he might be the follower himself.

they are leading you to beleive that he's the most helpful agent there suppsoing what ever Bacon's character wants to do. Its very possible, though I hope not. Right now I think the msot predictable thing is the weak link in the relationship between Emma,the nanny and the to "so called" gay guys. Actually its the tall dark haired guy that is going to create waves, which means hes going to be dead eventually.Of course thats only my assumption right now. Thats why i love shows whre I can guess at whats going to happen. Two of my other favorite shows that Ican do that with is "Grimm" which i think is awesome and "Haven" those are my two favs. Have to guess whats going on in those shows also.
Loved the ending to tonight's episode. The show gets creepier every week.
Jeff- my husband thinks the same thing and he is creepily good at picking apart shows and movies. I'm into the show so far, but I'm reserving my judgement until I see where they take it.
Thats kool. I more or less like to play Sherlock Holmes and see how far or right I am into it. Im maybe not as much into picking it apart as I am to seeing if im thinking like the writers. Its almost like playing chess in a way you try to see how far ahead in moves you can go lol
These week's episode was crazy. Crazy, I say!
The show reminds me of 24 with the nonstop action and all of the twists on who is a bad guy/good guy.
It was a crazy ep Charlene, no doubt about that. The women that was Rick's wife, I wasn't fooled one bit. Nothing seemed right about her. And the woman agent that knows cults, had to apologize for her not recognizing the wife for what she was. Once they were at the house, I was pretty much calling it, the only thing I didnt for see what the phone call saying "now". Also, once again, Im saying that the "kid" that is helping Bacon and was in the car with him at the wife's house, he lied to Bacon about her telling him to watch him. I dont beleive that happened, and also in the house bacon left him with the agent bleeding out telling him to call the resuce and to put pressure on the wound, but we didnt see him doing that. Next thing we see ,is blood on his hands and the agent was dead. All slight of hand. Distract from the obvious.
Sorry all, since its a discussion topic, Im jsut putting things out there for others to maybe talk about whether right or wrong. lol

I thought it was a little silly that both Bacon and the kid went into the house together. Wouldn't cops normally split up, one through the back, one through the front?

You're talking about Shawn Ashmore, he was in the original X-Men trilogy. I've been rehearsing a play, so haven't had time to keep up with The Following, but caught the first episode, and from that, he was totally miscast. Would've made a better rookie teamed with Kevin Bacon's character; but just isn't believable as a cop in charge.
He actually is coming off as a partner of Bacon's character. Check it out when you have the time.Plus, I don't think he's in charge. He's under the supervision of the new lady agent in charge. In fact, she keeps telling him to keep an eye on Bacon.

Oh, in the episode I saw he was standing in front of a suspect board and giving orders to the other cops, so it appeared he was in charge, at least at that time.
I think it's a bit of a rip off of Red John from The Mentalist, but I like that the show seems to explore it more.
I think Shawn Ashmore's position in teh FBI is an elevated one, where he has control of the standard suits but still has to take orders from above. Im still suspect of him though.
