yes it's pretty far-fetched, very far fetched even.
Thats why its in the crackpot thread...LOL!
Likely nothing to it, but I thought it was an interesting coincidence, and I'd love to see a Martin twist with something like that.
Though speaking of far fetched, we should do an occams razor breakdown on who has more conclusions being drawn for third rider, (in this thread) Gendry or Tyrion. I think Tyrion might actually require more leaps than Gendry. I'd be interested in doing that anyway, but I don't know if I could do a proper breakdown on Tyrion, since I'm not a big follower of his for third rider.
(Somewhere I read someone suggest Shireen (sp?) Stannis' daughter, I thought that'd be an interesting one as well)
RE: Lightbringer. I am thinking it must be Jon's sword. (forgot the name, sorry. Longclaw?) All the other character I assume will be AA reborn do not have an actual weapon that is named, etc.
What say you all about Melisandre? I'm hoping she gets offed in a spectacular fashion. After saving Lord Snow of course.
I'd like to see some inner personal conflict for her character honestly.I think the whole concept of her being a slave and forced into what she does is pretty interesting. It really creates some sympathy for her character.
Plus, I think it would be interesting if Dany were pitted against her actually. Since Dany has a clear weakness for slaves. (In annoying fashion)
Amber wrote: "Plus, I think it would be interesting if Dany were pitted against her actually. Since Dany has a clear weakness for slaves. (In annoying fashion)"Ooh that would be interesting! And also both of them being so wrapped up in fire, Dany's literal fire-breathing dragons and the fire of R'hllor for Melisandre. I wonder how those two would be pitted up against each other.
I'm not sure how Martin would do it, but it would be pretty sweet.Melisandre might also change her mind though and switch over to Dany's side. (But that would utterly bore me)
I think it would be awesomely dramatic if He killed off Dany as well....
Amber wrote: "I think it would be awesomely dramatic if He killed off Dany as well.... "If Dany did end up getting killed off how would you like to see it end, then? Who would end up ruling?
Practically, I think it'd be pretty awesome if Dorne took over and Arianne Martell ruled with help from her Father and Brother.Impractically, Asha Greyjoy. She would be a good queen, she doesnt want to have wars and fight unless there is cause, and when there is she puts up a good fight and is a good leader.
I'd could stand Stannis as well.
I actually think all those people would make better leaders than the usual contenders people root for. (Dany and Jon) I think both are a little over passionate about things and will eventually always boil down to troublesome.
Asha is a much better choice than Euron or Victarion... dudes are crazy. And I've always seen the Dornish so far removed from everyone else that they're practically their own rulers already.
Yah, they pretty much do rule themselves, especially now that Robert is dead.Myrcella is really the only thing holding it together for them. Thats why Dorne has it's own royal family.
And yes, I would have chosen Asha at the Queen's Moot easy choice IMO.
Amber wrote: "SO I have a new idea.Daario Naharis is really Jaqen H'ghar.
What say ye?"
jaqen could be anybody and everybody
Amber wrote: "SO I have a new idea.Daario Naharis is really Jaqen H'ghar.
What say ye?"
I thought that Jaqen was the alchemist in Oldtown!
Yes Kenneth, you have solved the mystery. Finally! BAHAHA.It's unconfirmed whether the Alchemist is Jaqen, it is assumed because the descriptions are similar to the face that Jaqen changed too...
However I noticed during my reread (okay, relisten...whatever) of DWD that it's also the same as Daario, except his hair is dyed blue and gold. Coincidentally his apperance could fit the timeline for him to be Jaqen and his first introduction is him killing multiple leaders to gain leadership of the Stormcrows.
It's okay. I have the Roy Dotrice version of this one and I don't mind it, actually thought it was decently done. Though Dany's voice is a bit annoying IMO and I got super confused when they started calling Sansa Alayne. I listen to a lot of audiobooks since I have a boring job staring at computers all day, and it is hardly the worst I've listened too, I'd probably rank them as average, since I don't think he does enough different voices and accents.
Cool!I would recommend it if you listen to lots of audiobooks, I wouldn't even put it in the catagory of bad.
If you haven't listened to KKC on audio I highly recommend it. Pat worked with the reader for months to get the voices and accents just the way he imagined them. And it's really well done. I have actually wanted to get Nick Podehl's autograph on my copy ever since I listened to it.
@Maggie - do you have the version read by a robot? I got that version for FFC and it was seriously the worst. I hate when I get robot readers!!!
Sam Tarly...He figured out how to kill the Others.
He will become Super Grand Maester of Westeros and rule it
I like Sam, he is cool. But I feel sorry for Westeros if he is the leader. He couldn't even control one single Nights Watchmen.
Biobi wrote: "At some point his Father will be begging him for mercy!"I actually feel like this may happen. It would be perfect.
Maybe he could get over his cowardice then. I think Jon helped a lot with that - but facing his father could really make a difference.I just hope he sets Gilly up with his mom and sisters they at least seem decent.
Have you thought about the possibility that there is a parallel with the way that Sam is claiming Mance Rayder's son as his bastard and the way Ned claims Jon? I mean, I'm not pro R+L but that would at least be an interesting way to unify the story.
Yah, I thought so too. Sorta annoyed me since I hate that theory, but at the same time, I like unity and repeating history in my fantasy...so...if it turns out to be correct that will make it less of a blow for me. LOL.
Do you hate the actual theory or the fact that it's so popular that it won't be a surprise if in fact it's revealed as truth?
Both I think LOL.When I originally read the books I actually thought the foreshadowing for such was blantently obvious. So I looked it up on Google, which had about a billion results because apperantly I was not the only one who saw the lead up on that. So immediately I hoped it was a red herring and kinda wrote it off.
But at this point, I do get highly annoyed that many fans (at least that I meet and know) seem to already take the theory as Cannon when it isnt. LOL. It's only likely and it annoys me when people use it to build other theories even more! It's a good theory, its even probable, but don't take it heart yet! Know what I mean?
My hope is that Martin will surprise us all with something of a twist. I read that the Actor who played Theon on the show, found out from Martin who Jon Snow's parents are and that it reminded him of Star Wars - which doesn't scream Rhaegar in my mind, but at the same time, if you look at him through someone like Robert's eyes, it would. *sigh* LOL
LOL we can only dream. Honestly, I don't mind waiting for books in series usually. However, I felt a little ripped off with FFC and DWD -they could have easily been one book and probably would have been better. I didn't have to wait for them, but if I had been I would have been a bit annoyed about that.
So IMO it's not always worth the wait to get something better from GRRM. I get he has a life and the show and all that, but I also think a lot procrastination works it's way in. Not that I really blame him for that, I couldn't write a story half as good, but still!
Jon is Benjen's son.BOOM!A Father (Benjen), thought dead, returns changed to claim a boy (Jon) as his son and make a decision to change sides to help said son. That is if Benjen is indeed The Great Other/Great Wight.
LOL - I don't really know if Benjen is Coldhands, but I do think there is a slight possibility Jon belongs to Benjen. And that would be an interesting twist. The actor who plays Theon seems to think that Jon's parentage will be very Star Wars-esque, so that would kinda fit the bill huh?
The other day actually I read a pretty well supported theory about Jon being the product of incest and how that is why Ned was so understanding to Cersei. It kinda made me have a headache but that would be kinda hardcore of Martin.
Amber wrote: "Both I think LOL.When I originally read the books I actually thought the foreshadowing for such was blantently obvious. So I looked it up on Google, which had about a billion results because app..."
since I've learned how popular the theory is, I feel kinda stupid for not having even suspected it...am I the only one who didn't pick up on it?
NO! I've met lots of people who didn't catch the nuances. I'm just particularly interested in Foreshadowing, it's one of my favorite literary devices, so I usually catch stuff like that. I assume whoever first came up with the theory and the many who did think the same, are interested in such as well. I like looking at how the writing is presented when I'm reading, outside of reading awesome stories. Which not everyone does - it is a little weird.Honestly - My boyfriend actually argued with me for multiple days that I was interjecting my feelings when I told him about this theory. I had to show him on the internet all the support it had. LOL!
Plus we have had a lot of time to think about these stuff I started reading this book back in 2007 and if they were all put out faster i probably wouldn't have thought of all the things i saw on rereads
I had a thought last night....Shouldn't Lady Stoneheart meet up w/ Littlefinger?
Seems apt that she would off him... Assuming he gets offed that is....
Would she? she doesn't know he set Ned up. She thinks that she can trust him. He has "protected" Sansa from any harm
Right, only Lysa Arryn and Littlefinger know about that as far as we know at least.I don't think even Varys knows! *gasp!*
Samwell will become Dany's maester (I can't remember how to spell that) when she conquers Westeros. He will bequeath his family lands to Gilly's baby, and make his dad serve the baby as master-of-the-pigs. Dany will burn Victarion Greyjoy when he arrives, commandeer his fleet and use it to invade Westeros.
Arianne Martell will get blown off course, and end up finding Arya, bring her back to Westeros and let her loose with the army of wolves that Nymeria has gathered.
Kings landing will burn, baby, burn.
I like the Arya/Arianne theory. & the burning one. But, I really think Dany is gonna kick the bucket by the end.
I think it would be pretty epic if GRRM killed Dany.It would totally burst some bubbles, but on the other hand, it would also free him up from the obvious.
If he doesn't want Dany to be AA/PTWP than he may as well kill her. Otherwise anyone else will really just seem like he twisted things to fit.
Then again, I'm a fan that doesn't particularly want Dany to gain yet another badass title. I'd prefer someone who isn't already so built up just because I get bored with overpowered characters. However she fits that particular prophecy so well it'd almost be weird if it werent her unless she wasn't around to claim it.
