The poems from John Updike are amazing in this issue. I wasn't going to read them because poems take a lot of thought and I was tired. But I started when I realized they were written pretty close to his death. I haven't read poems that touched me so much in a long time. I don't think there is any comparison for these poems, nor the description of watching life spring up all around you while it's simultaneously drifting away. Now I'm convinced I need to read some of his longer fiction. Maybe this summer....

I did see the Neko Case article and read it. I still don't like her album, though.
