Kathy (bookgoddess1969) Everyone is choosing such large numbers! I wish I could read 100 books in a year. I really have to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Since I have been estimating between 30 - 40 books a year. (I almost feel embarrassed saying that.) I am going for a minimum of 52 books! I'm on my way!

Cynthia (calvamom) | 72 comments Don't be embarrassed. You have picked a worthy goal. I'm a librarian, so I can read at work. We don't all have that option.

Molly (mollymorrow) | 52 comments My goal is 45 - so you're aiming higher than I am!

*Nan* (nan4471) What did you think of Change of Heart. I just started it and I have to say it is not one of my favorite by Jodi Picoult.

message 12: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) I loved Change of Heart. As usual, she combines various issues that really get you thinking. I don't think I would say its my favorite of her books, but I still loved it.

alisonwonderland (Alison) | 42 comments i'm glad you liked Change of Heart. i'm looking forward to reading it.

what are your favorites of Picoult's books?

alisonwonderland (Alison) | 42 comments oh, i just noticed you also read Wonder Woman. how was it? i've got it on my to-read list.

message 15: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) Its so hard to pick a favorite of Jodi's books! The first one I read of hers was Second Glance, so that holds a special place in my heart. Not to mention that it was great! I also really liked The Pact, and Vanishing Acts. I am currently reading The Songs of the Humpback Whale, which was her first. Its really good. I can't put it down. Wonder Woman was really good. I am not a comic book or super hero person, but she did a really great job of it. I was definitely hooked. You'll enjoy it!

alisonwonderland (Alison) | 42 comments My Sister's Keeper was my first Picoult book, and similarly it holds a special place in my heart. i haven't yet read Second Glance or The Songs of the Humpback Whale. i loved Vanishing Acts and also Salem Falls!

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) Book 5. Songs Of The Humpback Whale by Jodi Picoult

message 18: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) Songs of the Humpback Whale by Jodi Picoult is very different than her later books. I still really enjoyed it, but you can tell she was still finding her voice. The legal aspect that is greatly present in her later books isn't there. But her ability to get you to know her characters, flaws and all, is present from the first sentence you read. Thats one thing I love about her. She could have a character that, in any other book, you would dislike...it would be so clear....she opens this character up to you. You get to understand them and you learn there are so many shades of grey. You understand this character, and might even feel bad for them, despite who they are or what they might have done. Definitely worth reading!

alisonwonderland (Alison) | 42 comments i'll definitely read this one when i get a chance. thanks for the nice review.
