I went to see the Life of Pi last night. It was most certainly one of the best movies I have ever seen. I have long been a fan of Ang Lee, especially his 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'. I think he has outdone himself with Life of Pi. It is such a spectacle, and the colours and scenes are so beautiful. When you put the incredible artistry and cinematography of Ang Lee together with the wonderful story, dialogue and inspiring message from Yann Martel, well, you're left with something you won't ever forget.

I thought it was a great movie too. It went quite well with the book and everything was right like I've imagined it while reading the book. Before I went to the movie I was afraid that it would let me down, because there are only a few movies I saw that did justice to the books. This one really did. What I missed in the movie were the deeper thoughts about everything which are of course mentioned in the book. But that's always the case with movies based on a novel; they can't always go as deep as the books. But the movie was really awesome and Richard Parker was cute :).
Yes for sure! Ang Lee captured my imagination just as Yann Martel had done! It did lack the deeper thoughts of Pi a little, but that's excusable ;)
My friend, who originally lent me the book went to see the film before me and he was disappointed.... I thought it would be a hard book to convert to the screen, but personally I was really impressed... I unexpectedly cried when Richard Parker left, even though I always believed the harsher version of the story - therefore Richard Parker was just a part of him, but it was built up so well, and was so sad. Also at the end I liked it when Pi asked the writer which version he preferred - and he answered the one with the tiger - and Pi said "Thank you". Which can also be interpreted either way, but I felt he was saying thank you for understanding why he told that version.
Or as my friends call it, "Life of CGI". Check out my webcomic, updates every Thursday: http://reddkaiman.blogspot.com/2013/0...
