Please make your suggestion for our February Zombie theme group read. The poll will go up on January 8th.

I vote for Patient Zero by Jonathan Maberry. I've heard the Joe Ledger series is action-packed zombie hunting goodness.

message 3: by Ctgt (new)

Ctgt I like that, Lady D.

How about World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War. I think the movie is coming out soon.

That's a good one too, Ctgt!

I'm not much of a zombie fan, but I am going to nominate I, Zombie by Hugh Howey. I loved another of his books, Wool, so hopefully this one will be just as good.

Zombies... wow... I have a new experience coming. I'll have to go look at my TBR and all of those "Free-books" I DLed from Amazon and see if one looks like a good nomination!

Kevin (spiralcity) One Rainy Night by Richard Laymon

This book is not available in ebook format, but can be found used for a 1.00 or 2.00 on Amazon.

Hi Lisa,
I'm not a huge Zombie fan either, I just thought it would be an interesting twist to our regular noms.

I have only read one Zombie book, "The Rising", by Brian Keene.

The Rising looks interesting, I'm still searching for a nomination. I know so little of this Zombie-sub-genre.

The movies are always fun though, so, there should be fun books behind them somewhere! (I am building a list of potential reads from this thread too).

Grammar*Kitten (grammarkitten) Elements of the Undead Omnibus is a brilliant Zombie novel - it is comprised of three books called Fire, Air and Earth which are all great but a little short independently of each other. – reasonably priced for kindle at £3.18/$4.99 too.

Ah! A new voice, with a good recommendation! Thank you!

And welcome to the group.

message 13: by Grammar*Kitten (new)

Grammar*Kitten (grammarkitten) Zombies are very much my thing - I could probably recommend quite a few! I hadn't figured action/adventure as featuring this kind of action, and it piqued my interest! Thank you :)

Your welcome, and, it may not be "action adventure" but here, we also celebrate action as it appears in other genres, with in reason of course.

message 15: by Grammar*Kitten (new)

Grammar*Kitten (grammarkitten) In fact, The New Zed Order: Survive is also brilliant, as is Gray Dogs.

Too many enjoyable zombies, in my humble opinion!

message 16: by Eileen (new)

Eileen I'm always in for a good zombie book. Wasn't there a movie that just came out that was made from a book staring Brad Pitt? Does anyone remember the title of the book?

message 17: by Grammar*Kitten (new)

Grammar*Kitten (grammarkitten) That was World War Z - but it's one of the less-good ones that I've read. It's... a bit boring, if I'm honest!

message 18: by Tad (new)

Tad (tottman) | 74 comments I second Patient Zero. It's got great action and for the first in a series, it's really well-written and a lot of fun!

We'd probably have to just go with the first book for the purposes of this challenges, so I will add Fire to the poll.

We appreciate all the options. Which book is your top nomination, Andrea? I'll add that one to the poll.

message 21: by Grammar*Kitten (new)

Grammar*Kitten (grammarkitten) New Zed Order is probably more action/adventurey, I would say that one!

Eileen Andrea wrote: "That was World War Z - but it's one of the less-good ones that I've read. It's... a bit boring, if I'm honest!"

Thanks, Andrea. I'll try and think of another book to nominate.

Hi David. We really discourage advertising your work on the nomination threads. I am going to have to delete this post because it wouldn't be fair to other authors on the board if I let this one pass. You are welcome to discuss your work under appropriate Folders such as the Author/Reader interface or promotions.

Jonathan Terrington (thewritestuff) | 465 comments urgh I keep missing out thanks to a lack of notifications from Goodreads even though I keep changing my settings and clicking on the 'email me when people comment'. It's only slightly annoying however...

message 27: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Literary Adrenaline Junkie (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 5171 comments Mod
Sorry about that, Jonathan!

We try to get the nomination thread up the first day or so of the month, and the poll around the 7th or 8th to close by the middle of the month.

I don't like to send out a lot of group messages because I don't want to be annoying.

message 28: by Jonathan (last edited Jan 13, 2013 07:48PM) (new)

Jonathan Terrington (thewritestuff) | 465 comments Yeah that's fine, I'm just still trying to work out how to cut back on nominations from groups that I don't really follow as much. I have a select five or so groups that I'm very active in and several I visit semi-regularly. Yet my notifications get bogged down by the ones I visit less regularly despite multiple changes to my settings. It might just be a goodreads thing. Either way I liked the nominations so far, so all is good :D

Yeah, it's hard to keep up with all the group reads for the various groups I'm involved with. Frankly, I suck at it. I can maybe get in one or two a month, with all my other reading.
