Jen B (jennybee618) I kinda stopped keeping track of this for 2012 because with my new job I got so busy I stopped reading "real" books for awhile. But, new year, better grasp on job, and a resolution to make more "me" time = more reading time, even if it's just 20 minutes a night!

As far as a number goal, I'm going with 40, because I didn't quite reach my goal of 50 this year.

For 2013, my goals are:
1) Read at least 10 of the Nook books I own (it's hard to pass them up when they are $2.99...so I haven't)
2) Read or abandon as many of my 25 oldest TBR books that I can
3) Read one new author per month from the list of authors I've marked to read but never actually read (below)

I'm the same way with the cheap Nook books Jen! :)

I like your idea with the first 25 on your TBR list. I may use that next year, but I think I have enough challenges going on right now, LOL!

Good luck!

message 6: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (diva2416) | 819 comments The Pact by Jodi Picoult is really good. A rough subject matter but very good. Let me know if you start read The Hour I First Believed....it may motivate me to read my copy; and I will have someone to discuss it with.

message 7: by Jen B (new)

Jen B (jennybee618) I've never actually read a book by Jodi Picoult, but that one looks to be the best of hers to me. I think I can probably handle it better now than the Wally Lamb book...since I work in a school, the idea of a school shooting is tough to swallow, especially after the one last month. I think when I get to that one it will have to be in the middle of the summer! But I will let you know when I do...it would be nice to have someone to read it with!

message 8: by Jen B (new)

Jen B (jennybee618) Well, I made it a whole 6 days of 2013 before purchasing two new Nook books... A Kiss from Maddalena by Christopher Castellani and Love and Other Subjects by Kathleen Shoop . Finished one Nook book on New Year's Eve, but somehow my count just went up by one. Ooops.

1. Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster - Jen Lancaster

What'd ya think?

Jen B (jennybee618) Hilarious! I love the way she says stuff. I have a tendency to start talking like her while I'm reading her books...I actually referred to someone as "Captain Craptastic" the other day. No idea if that's her term or mine, but not something I would say unless under the influence of Jen. :)

I actually didn't think I was going to like it as much as her others since she's so nasty in the beginning, but I like that she becomes a nice, more humble person after losing her job. I love the audio versions of her books because I cannot stand the footnotes, and they aren't included in the audiobooks. Plus, the narrator is the same for all of her books, and she does such a great job of giving it Jen's voice.
