Nikki So it was late November, I was 10 books behind my goal of 52 for the year. As I looked at my "to read" bookshelf, i confess that I reached for the very thin The Sense of an Ending rather than the very thick A Suitable Boy and pretty much didn't read a book longer than 400 pages until i reached my goal. I didn't resort to the Mr Men series but I must admit that i did avoid the tomes.

Was it just me doing this ?

Ha! I've done this, too.

And the sad thing is that reading is supposed to be *for fun*, and the goal is supposed to just be a fun little *goal* to aim for. We're not going to be shot if we don't reach it... and yet we feel like we *must* reach it, and even take up strange tactics to ensure we reach the goal :)

No, it's not just you, Nicola. I think a lot of us have done something similar to make sure we don't fall short of our magic number :)
