Hello. I am loving this group. I enjoy the games and all of the posts. I only have 3 books on my booklist for this reason: I want to start fresh from what I am reading now. I will add books as I go along. The list will grow. It's fun to read all of the recommendations and reviews. I told friends about goodreads and I know of at least 2 who have joined. Let the fun begin! Nice to meet you all!
Hello everyone,I'm a former Army intelligence officer in special operations involving surveillance and intelligence collection for the National Security Agency, NSA, and the Central Intelligence Agency, CIA, during the 1970′s.
When I left the military, I was one of the founders of American Systems Corporation, a private contractor to the government,
Then I did something even I didn't expect....
I packed up and moved to California and started a thriller series about the seedier side of the intelligence "Desire is A Viscious Mistress". The first book in the series, "The Tilted Truth" is out now and I'm worrking on the second.
Looking forward to connect with you guys about thrillers and everything else...

Hello to everyone! I'm Steven Hardesty, retired diplomat and wanderer trying his hand at writing comic crime stories set in far-flung places. My wife and I are tea cozy fanatics but, for weird contrast, also fans of Scandinavian thrillers. I just finished all three of L.C. Tyler's comic tea cozies starting with "The Herring-Seller's Apprentice" and am happy to recommend them.

Only murder mystery I know of set in North Korea.

The one foreign service officer I do know writing is Peter Cozzens who writes Civil War battle history. My favorite among his books is "The Shipwreck of Their Hopes" about the battle of Chattanooga. It has a small but strange mystery at the center of it.

Hi, I read and write mysteries and am looking for a discussion group to find new mysteries to read. Favorite authors are Robert B Parker and Tony Hillerman. I like how James Lee Burke and Elmore Leonard write but can't read them so much because such awful things happen to the characters. I don't like to be scared to death so I guess I'm a cozy mystery reader. I like humor and romance in my mysteries, too. I don't do vampires, werewolves or shapeshifters. I live and write on the Oregon frontier.
Nice to meet you Marjorie! I like a cozy Mystery too, especially the British mysteries. I hope you will love Goodreads as much as I do.
Hello, I love to read! I am always looking for the next "good read" and what better place than a community of mystery readers. Though I use to stick to certain writers, I have become a bit more adventurous in my choices trying new authors (often self pubilished authors) and have been pleasantly surprised with most of the books I've chosen. Getting lost in a good mystery can be addictive for me, and it's not unheard of to read an entire book in a day when time permits. I look forward to group discussions.

Thanks for all the "welcomes"! I agree, there are many suggestions and interesting people on good reads and I look forward to meeting more.
Hi Everyone My name is Mike and I have always enjoyed a good mystery. When I was about 12 years old I joined the Detective Book Club, mostly so I would be sure to get the newest Perry Mason book as soon as it came out. I am particularly fond of courtroom dramas and mysteries as a well as medical themed ones such as Robin Cooke. I look forward to meeting new friends, discovering new authors and enjoying and discussing many great reads.

Hi,I am CaroleDenise (no one ever knows what to call me, so I often use first and middle name together).
I LOVE TO READ!!!! Especially a "who-dunnit". I like figuring out the clues and solving the mystery.
Happy to join this spot.....hope it's a lot of fun! :)
I am also new from last week. I've posted a couple of thoughts but nothing substantial. I too read mysteries/thrillers. I've read the 3 Bourne books years ago & want to re-read. Don't know how captivating since they are all pre-high tech.
I think I've read every Connelly book written. One of my favs. Also love Nelson DeMille. He's way overdue for a new book. His are more complicated & then there's the smart ass attitude from his character John Corey. One of the best!!
Plum Island is an older one but the best. Lion's Gate & The Lion are recent. I don't know about this nomination list.
Interesting selection. I haven't heard of most of the authors so a new challenge! I was thinking of all the terrific books I've read but these are my top 3 & all very different genres.1. Beach Music Pat Conroy Sobbed through out this novel
2. Nicholas & Alexandra Robert Massie Haven't read since the 70's but need to read again
3. Five Smooth Stones Ann Fairbairn Beginning in the depression follows a black grandson growing up, dealing with racism, becoming successful. Read this twice, loaned it to a friend & haven't seen it since!

Hello everyone! I'm Dennis and love to read Mysteries and Thriller books. I've been on Goodreads for about two years and the number or great books and authors I have discovered has been awesome.I try to read as much as I can and try to stay open to new genres and authors. Look forward to getting to know people in the group.
Hi! My name is Anna and I'm a retired Library Cataloger from a small town in Idaho. I'm an avid reader who can't remeber a time when I wasn't carrying at least one book around to read. I've volunteered and worked in Libraries since I was twelve just to be around all those books. I read mostly mystery, and non-fiction. My preference is cozies, but I'm also a die hard Ed McBain fan and will read just about any mystery.
Welcome to all that I haven't greeted yet. I see that people join almost every day. I love goodreads and I bet you all will too!
Hello! My name is Patrick and I am both an avid writer, painter, blogger and reader! Hope to read some interesting posts and learn about new authors and new books!
HI Am 71 yr, live in Upstate N.Y. and my hobbies are reading , stitching , cooking , baking and above all keeping up on apt. as I live alone .
Hi, I just joined the group and am a new user to goodreads as well. I'm a 21 year old Care Giver originally from Brazil, but now live in South Carolina. I've been letting my reading slide over the last few years. I went from reading 3 or 4 books a week to one every 3 or 4 months. Of course I'm older now and have 2 part time jobs as a Care Giver (one taking care of a 3 year-old and one working for the county caring for the elderly), so I don't have time to read as much as I use to, but 3 or 4 books a month shouldn't be to hard to do. I joined goodreads for the encouragement I need to keep up with my reading. I thought a book club would be a great place to start so I joined a few =)

Hi Khim! You will like it here. Good group.
Salutations Khim,Welcome to the group. I like the pic of you and your pup. I am a pet parent too.
I notices you like true crime. Have you read the "Monster of Florence" by Douglas Preston and Mario Spezi? It is fantastic read full of intrigue and corruption.
I have not been as active as I liked due to my parents' respective health problems. My dad has been in the hospital for over 3 three months and the only silver lining is I am catching up on my reading by reading out loud to my dad everyday.
Enjoy the group!
Catherine

Hi, I'm Katie, currently living in New Zealand. I am new to Goodreads and love mysteries. At the moment I am reading all of the Earlene Fowler books featuring the Benni Harper mysteries and loving them. I love Agatha Christie too. I tend to smash and grab from the local library and then forget what I read or enjoyed so will hopefully keep better track this way. I tend to read lots on kindle and e-reader. I'm not really into vampires and zombies or extremely gory stuff.

I am Susanne and I am living in Germany. I have been an avid reader since childhood and so I read nearly everything I love mysteries and thrillers. These days I mostly read ebooks, but paper hasn't been thrown out.
In germany I am running a blog featuring free and bargain english books for German readers. And at the moment I am helping some German authors who had their books translated into english with finding reviewers and promoting their books.
Looking forward knowing you all!
Susanne
