Thank you! It was a bit of a strange read initially, there just seemed to be more and more questions without any answers as to what was actually going on in the story. But I am so glad I stuck with it, the author pulls it all together brilliantly. I thought it was cleverly done.

I am being a little sneaksy with this one and the next few as I am doing a short course on fantasy literature; I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone and use books I haven't previously read so I can include them in here :)

Fairytales are very weird.

I absolutely loved it. It is a really simple, but clever, concept. It's meant to be a UN-type inspector writing a report after the event, and he has to go on a fact finding mission. The book is made up of the stories of some of the people he interviewed. Although it their personal accounts', you get to know the entirety of what happened.

I don't understand why Hollywood stuck its nose and changed this (apparently the film is quite different) because it is something that could have worked quite well in movie form - maybe like District 9.
Anyhoo, it is ace. Would you like to borrow it? And by borrow I mean borrow :D

Maureen | 144 comments Interesting book choices. I've also read Philippa Gregory's series. I loved Lady of the Rivers. You may be interested in Sandra Worth, who gives a sympathetic portrayal of Richard III, in The Rose of York series. Also, the Thwarted Queen series by Cynthia Sally Haggard tells the story of the War of the Roses from the perspective of Cecily Neville, Duchess of York.
