I'm looking for information about what I think is a series of books in children's literature from perhaps the 1920's to 1930's. I read these books in the 1960's after a recommendation from my librarian.
A young boy goes on adventures to and island and carries tangerines in a suitcase. The illustrations show him in a somewhat pointed cap. I don't remember much else about the stories except that they completely transported me to this little adventure world.
My Father's Dragon: The boy finds tangerines on an island and then carries them with him as he goes around. It's a series from the 40s, and the boy is wearing a cap but not pointed.
