Clary smiled as Professor Nyx turned away. He was her favorite teacher, and regardless of that, it was a favorite pastime of hers to poke fun at teachers.

Hayden made sure that Nyx couldn't see them then leaned over and whispered teasingly to Clary, "Do you keep speeches like that ready or make them up on the spot?"
''On the spot, of course. Why, were you hoping I kept a stack hidden in my dresser? Ready to pull out and be spoken at my leisure. Or were you perhaps hoping to borrow one? Well sorry to disappoint, there is no pile.'' Clary shrugged, all the while holding back a smile.
Hayden grinned suddenly. "You see, not all of us are as talented as you, Clary," he said. "I was hoping you might let me borrow your wise words."
''Alas, woe is you, for as I have already said, there is no stockpile of my wise words strung together. Although, if you were to be a bit more generic and simply want to borrow words, then I could refer you to the library where there are large amounts of words you could use, or I could even go so far as to loan you a dictionary, yet another great symposium of words.''
Nyx's sharp eyes missed nothing. "Five points from Gryffindor for lateness, Miss Oakwood," he said briskly, but not unkindly. Nyx wasn't a mean teacher, just strict.
Hayden acknowledged Ginger with a smile and turned back to Clary. "See? That's what I mean. I don't even understand some of those words you threw in there." He leaned back in his seat and caught his mouse as it once more attempted to escape. "But you're a Ravenclaw, so I suppose it comes easy."

''What's that supposed to mean? And besides, you're a Gryffindor, you lot are supposed to be brave and all that. So giving a long winded, sarcastic speech to a professor shouldn't be hard for you.'' Clary said. ''And, as for the big words, sorry. It's this thing I do, I've been trying to stop lately. Mostly because it makes some people think I'm making fun of them.'' Clary looked at Hayden, she hoped he wouldn't think she was making fun of him.
"Nah," Hayden said, shrugging one shoulder. "I've got eight older brothers and a brilliant younger sister. I'm used to feeling stupid." He grinned crookedly to show he was joking.
Ginger groaned and started listening in on their conversation. Once she understood what they were talking about she said "Oh, are you talking about how stupid Hayden is? Can I join?" She smiled and winked so they knew she was kidding.
"Miss Oakwood, Miss Muse, Mr. Zeller," Nyx said sweeping over to them before Hayden could answer. He looks down at them, eyebrows raised. "Miss Muse, if you would demonstrate the spell."
Clary pulled her wand out from behind her ear. She flourished it and thought the spell, then watched in satisfaction as the mouse transfigured into the desired teapot.
Nyx nodded approvingly. "Take ten points, Miss Muse. Mr. Zeller, kindly transfigure your mouse. Silently." Hayden raised his wand and thought the spell. Nothing happened. Then he remembered the wand movement. He flicked his wand and thought the spell. The mouse squeaked and turned into a teapot. Hayden grinned. Nyx frowned down at the teapot. There seemed o be something wrong with it. Then the teapot squeaked again. Nyx held back a laugh. "Mr. Zeller, what do you think you did wrong?"
Clary's shoulders shook with silent laughter at the tiny squeak that had just escaped Hayden's teapot. And, Professor Nyx s expression was hysterical. To hide her laughter, Clary started decorating her teapot. She added swirls of blue and green to the sides. In fact, she was concentrating so hard on the task that swirls of blue and green began to make their way up her arms.
"Er...I need to concentrate?" Nyx nodded. "Precisely. For homework, practice." He turned to Ginger. "Miss Oakwood, I would like to see you do the spell.
Hayden turned back to his teapot. He did the reverse spell, aloud, and the teapot turned back into a mouse.

When Nyx had turned away to face Ginger, Clary turned to Hayden. ''If you need help, I'll help you with the spell.'' She whispered.
Ginger consentratred hard and turned the mouse into a teacup. Ginger smiled. Until she realized that the teacup was hairy. She turned red and gave a guilty smile to Proffessor Nyx
"Don't worry about it," Hayden whispered back. "I've got this. Besides, a squeaking teacup would make excellent prank material."
Nyx shook his head. "Miss Oakwood, what did you forget?"
Hayden tilted his head to the side, thinking. It was a habit the Zellers had. "I'm not much of a prankster, really," he admitted.
''Neither am I. But... I know some people who are. I bet they'd be perfectly happy to help.'' Clary whispered excitedly.
Hayden shrugged. "Will, maybe. He loves to prank."
''Or maybe Derek and Jared. Or we could just drop the whole pranking thing and pay attention to Professor Nyx.'' Clary said. She wiggled her eyebrows at Hayden mischieviously.
"The flick of the wand." Ginger replied. She was still listening to Clairy and Hayden's conversation as she fixed her teacup. When Proffessor Nydia turned away, Ginger turned to them "Does nobody consider me a prankster??"
Hayden leaned back in his chair, listening to their conversation.
Nyx walked to the front of the room and turned to look at his students. "Alright, for homework, I want a short essay about the advantages of silent spells. Ten inches, due in two days. Class dismissed."

Hayden stood up as well, slung his bag over his shoulder and followed Clary out. "Hey, Clary! Wait up!"
Clary stopped just inside the door. She moved aside to let the other students flow through the door. Clary waited for Hayden to catch up to her.
Hayden caught up to Clary and said, "Clary, I was thinking we could go to Hogsmeade together. You know, just as friends."
Hayden thought for a second. "How's the Three Broomsticks sound?"
"Sounds great." Clary nodded. "I'll just go put my books away and meet you in the Entrance Hall in five minutes." She hurried through the door to Ravenclaw common room.
Hayden hefted his books and left the room as well, heading for the Gryffindor common room.
Ginger grumbled as she left the room. "Not a prankster? Gah! What a reputation I've been setting up for myself. I need to start pranking more often!" She thought. She packed her bag and thought about what she could do.
Caleb walked into the classroom. He slung his bag down and sat in a chair near the back. Caleb looked around the classroom for someone to talk to.
