I'm sure that everyone has something they can't stand when it comes to books. I hate bent covers and creases. They seriously bug me so much.

Yeah, illusions in a book's physical appearance are not cool.

Badgerlord | 15 comments I hate it when the author's name is bigger than the title. I mean, I buy/borrow a book because I think it looks interesting, and the blurb sounds good. I do NOT read a book because I like the sound of the author's name. That would be stupid, even by my standards. I don't even agree with the practice when it's an author who's whole selling point is that they are that author (Stephen King, for example, could just fall asleep on the keyboard and still make top 100), because if I liked one of their books, I'm naturally going to want to read the rest. I'll look for it. No need to signpost. Oh, and the blurb goes on the back cover. Stop randomly putting it either on inside front cover, inside back cover, or not having one, and then putting quotes about your book on the back. I don't think I've ever picked up a book and said "Well, this looks awful, but the Telegraph (or some other newspaper) said 'a turning point in the history of space-ghost-detective stories' so it must be good!" NO BODY CARES WHAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SAID, OTHER PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS.

Badgerlord | 15 comments Well, all I can say is that's how I feel. I'm going to do jigsaw puzzles on the National Geographic website until I feel I can continue being not-ranty-angry-Badgerlord.
