Ash wakes up to the sound of screaming downstairs. He jumps out of bed wearing his usual black tank top and pajama pants and runs downstairs.

Mikey hears the scream and sees his door is locked. He starts banging on the door, "Damn it!" He yells trying to get out.

Kate cowers in a corner as her father screams at her as he beats her with his belt, "You worthless scum! It's your fault! All your fault she's dead!" He yells.

Ash comes down into the kitchen, "Dad! Stop!" He wails weakly, still half asleep.

(( Kate's phone buzzes dully. ))

[Kate Kid, VanDel]

Kate's phone vibrates, her father looks down at her and whippes her again.

Ash sees her phone on the counter and picks it up, Hey It reads. Ash texts back My dad is beating the crap outa her! Help!

[Halle, Mastermind, Charming Thief]

Tess strutted through the front door five minutes later. "Mmhmm, I'll take that," she said, wrenching the belt from Kate's dad's grasp. "Now leave," she said, eyes flashing.

[Kate Kid, VanDel]

The father looks down at her, "This is my house, who are you anyways?" The father growls at her.

Kate cowers in the corner still, bleeding.

Ash quickly runs over to her and wraps his body around her.

"I'm Tess, sir," she said. She pointed at Kate. "And that's my friend, so kindly fuck off. M'kay, thanks."

[Kate Kid, VanDel]

The father looks at her, "I will not be talked to with such language! If you haven't noticed! She's a murderer!"

Mikey yells from upstairs, "Let me outa here so I can kick your ass!" He yells.

The father yells back, "Don't talk to me that way boy!"

[Halle, Mastermind, Charming Thief]

Tess slinked backwards stealthily to stand by Kate. Her tough expression melted off. "Sorry I'm late."

[Kate Kid, VanDel]

((Pretend she didn't know so she'll blow up at her later. XD))

Kate shakes as she holds onto her brother's shirt, tears streaming down her face.

Ash looks up at her, "Thanks for coming." He says holding onto her.

The father dashes up the stairs and busts into Mikey's room, "You little punk!"

Mikey looks at him, eyes narrow.

"Always," Tess said to Ash while she looked worriedly at Kate. "Oh, Kitty Kat," she said softly, touching her hair lightly.

Kate tenses but then noticed it was Tess and calms.

Ash looks up at her, Kate's blood all over him.

[Halle, Mastermind, Charming Thief]

Tess locked eyes with Ash. "Does this happen?" she demanded. "Often, I mean?"

Tears stream down his face as he nods slightly.

[Halle, Mastermind, Charming Thief]

Tess felt something in her chest clench and her eyes burned, but she refused to cry. She nodded slowly and said simply, "Okay." She heard shouting and a loud crash from upstairs.

[Kate Kid, VanDel]

The father throws Mikey into the wall, knocking over the lamp. "You little punk!" The father yells throwing Mikey over the bed.

Mikey lands on the floor and gets up, "Stay away from my sister!" Mikey yells jumping over the bed ontop of his dad. He rams his fist into his father's face. Grabbing his shirt and then ramming him on the ground twice.

"I will do whatever I want to her! She's a murderer!" He yells at Mikey.

That was the last straw, Mikey grabs a metal piece of the lamp and rams it into his skull, making his father lose conchousness. ((He didn't stab him. Just hit him.))

Mikey then runs downstairs in his boxers and white tee shirt. He didn't even notice Tess as he runs and wraps his arms around his siblings.

Tess looked at him, bewildered.

[Kate Kid, VanDel]

Mikey's hands were bloody as he takes them away from Kate, "Damn him...." He then looks up at Tess, "When'd you get here?" He asks emaraced about his clothing.

[Halle, Mastermind, Charming Thief]

"Approximately seven three minutes ago."

[Kate Kid, VanDel]

Mikey nods, "Um.... Yah.... maybe I should go get dressed...." He says getting up.

Ash picks Kate up, "Help me?" He asks Tess bringing her to Kate's room.

[Halle, Mastermind, Charming Thief]

Tess nodded. "Yeah, of course." She looked at Mikey. "You really should. Scares off guests, being dressed like that."

[Kate Kid, VanDel]

Mikey laughs, "Oh I'm hot and you know it."

Ash rolls his eyes and puts Kate down on her bed.

[Halle, Mastermind, Charming Thief]

"I don't know how I'm controlling myself," Tess said, rolling her eyes.

[Kate Kid, VanDel]

Mikey laughs and walks into his room, not even looking at his father as he grabs his clothing, he goes to the bathroom to get dressed. He wasn't going to change with his father in there!

Ash looks at Kate's wounds, "Crap.... how long was he doing that before I got there?"

Kate cries, "'bout 10 minutes...."

[Halle, Mastermind, Charming Thief]

Tess sat Indian-style on the floor. "Kat," she said imploringly. "If you cry, then I'll cry and no one wants to see any of that."

[Kate Kid, VanDel]

Kate looks at her, "It hurts...."

Mikey brings out the medical stuff and goes to Kate, "this may sting...."

Kate smiles, "You say that every time...."

[Halle, Mastermind, Charming Thief]

Tess watched Mikey gently apply whatever-the-hell-it-was.

Mikey then wraps the wounds, "He got you good...."

Kate nods, "He always does...."

[Halle, Mastermind, Charming Thief]

Tess controlled her breathing so she wouldn't feel angry and Kat for not telling her.

Mikey sighs when he's done, "Since you know it all, I won't say anything else." He smiles at her.

Ash smiles at her and then goes to her closet pulling out some clean cloths.

Tess watched the brothers work around Kate like clockwork. Like a routine. It almost made her feel lonely, being an only child and all. She honestly didn't know what to say to Kat. That was a first.

[Kate Kid, VanDel]

Mikey smiles at her, "I'ma be downstairs."

Ash hands her the clothing, "I'ma make breakfast."

[Halle, Mastermind, Charming Thief]

Tess waited for them to leave. "Kat," she said slowly. "Why didn't you tell me?"

Kate looks at her, "I.... I was.... scared...." Kate says putting her face in her hands.

"Of me?"

Kate shakes her head, biting into her long black sleeve, "of him...."

"I believe I handled him rather well," Tess said, thinking back.

Kate smiles smally, "That was awesome...."

Tess nodded, "It was."

Kate smells Ash cooking bacon and smiles, "I don't wanna be here when my father wakes up."

Tess stood up and stretched. "We could lock him in the basement," she said, "or we could do something. At my house or anywhere else."

Kate nods, "Somewhere else." She says getting up, limping.

[Halle, Mastermind, Charming Thief]

"But first," Tess said, "I'm eating your bacon. I skipped breakfast again."

Kate laughs and uses the wall as support until Mikey comes up to her and scoops her up in his arms.

Tess slipped in front of them and walked into the kitchen.

When they enter the kitchen Ash is throwing the sizzling bacon on a plate, "oh gosh.... Tess, if you eat it all. I'ma kill you."
