I adore this book as well. It's one of the ones I have in hardcover, and I don't have that many hardcovers
I love this one too. They need to put out a longer trailer so we can get more of an idea about the movie.
I am soo excited for this movie and plan on reading the book again before it comes out. it is one of my favorites
Yay! Glad to see so many of you liked it too :) That's why you're my friends lol (among other reasons of course :)
Im going to read it sometime this week and I'm really looking forward to it based on the comments above :)

Yay hope you enjoy it as much as we all did!!

The Host was interesting at the start (besides the blatant ripoff of Yeerks from Animorphs) until they spent 80% of the book underground, not doing anything. I got bored during this one.The movie trailer looks alright though, it has the hottie from Pretty little liars :D
I'm currently reading this, and I must say I already love it! I've forgotton how much i enjoy Stephanie Meyers writing. I'm anxious to see how it ends :P
I loved this book, read it a few times. It was also my favorite Stephanie Meyer book. But I am nervous about it becoming a movie. Most movies don't do the books justice.
Which Pretty Little Liars hottie is in the movie?
YES! I love the Host. One of my all-time favorite books. I'm so excited for the movie and the trailer looks INCREDIBLE!!! I've read the book 3 or 4 times now and it's always so good. I hope the movie does it justice. From what you see in the trailer, it looks like they did a good job. Can't Wait!!! And I love Saoirse Ronan. I'm glad she's playing Melanie/Wanda because she can actually act!

Shoot! I love all the PLL guys!

I literally just finished reading it and am currently wiping my tears. I absolutely adored this book! So moving and heartfelt and exciting! What more could I ask for? Is she really writing two more? Do you guys think it will ruin the first book or add to it? I'm not sure what I think yet... I'd read it anyway that's for sure.
Shannen wrote: "Shoot! I love all the PLL guys!"Me too, I was thinking Max Irons looks quite similar to Julian Morris! *drools*
Definitely her best work but I wasn't too sure about the end. Kinda ended like it was the first in a series...is it?
@Kenechi, it's being advertised as a stand-alone but apparently she intended for it to be a trilogy.
There is talk, and has been for a while before the movie was being made, that there is another book from a tracker's view point... and I've forgotten who's viewpoint for #3 is.
i love this, much much much more than twilight!! yay, can't wait for the movies! i just hope it wont ruin my imagination the way they always do when they make books into movies :(
Was a bit reluctant about reading this because of Twilight, but when I finished it I wanted to punch myself for judging a book according to his author's past books. It's really a great book.P.s- anyone knows if and when a sequel come out?

I know, I hate when I do that, stop reading an author because of one book. I always try to give second chances because I'd hope people would do the same for me!

Supposedly, it's supposed to be a trilogy, if she ever gets around to writing them. According to wiki:Meyer has said that she is working on additional books in The Host series and that she intends to write a trilogy. She said in an interview that, if published, the first sequel would be entitled The Soul and the second The Seeker. In November 2009, she said, "I'd like to eventually have The Host be part of a trilogy." In a Q&A session in Kansas City, Meyer stated that she has outlines for the sequels and has done some writing on them, but she has some qualms since The Host universe is a "dangerous place" where characters might die, and she is not sure if she wants to kill them off.
I thought this was an adult novel? Anyway, I guess I'm going to have to reread before the movie comes out. I read it in 2009, I think, and don't remember too much of it.

I don't know, aren't the characters younger? It's been so long I can't remember lol! You could be right...

Awww, Heidi. I had a couple of people that had a hard time getting into this book, but once they got IN, they loved the last half.
I know you've never been a fan though.

She is just so gosh darn wordy! I would be scared if S. Meyer and C. Clare ever teamed up -- it would be a 2000 pager!

I think she's 20. So, in 2008-2009, it was considered Adult. Nowadays, it'd probably be considered New Adult. It definitely doesn't read as a typical adult novel, though.

True, but I'd probably enjoy at least half the words :)

No. I really liked it, too. I'm planning on rereading (or listening. I have kindle and audio versions) next month before the movie!
