I just glanced through your blog. You may be interested in my novel My Safe Harbour. It is inspirational, dealing with people improperly putting judgement on an unfortunate girl, through a time that she would need more love than anything.

I really enjoyed that book as well. It disheartened me about all the controversy surrounding it, but it was still a good book.

Akira (miyakobunny) | 4 comments Hi :) I'm currently from Texas. We're a military family so we move a lot, but I'm originally from Guam. I don't have one favorite author (more like a top 10 list) nor do I have a favorite genre. I do prefer the classics over most though. Some of my favorite Authors include: John Steinbeck, Kurt Vonnegut, Jane Austen, William Makepeace Thackery, Chuck Palahniuk, Anne Rice, & George Orwell. Some of my favorite books are: The Pearl, East of Eden, Grapes of Wrath, Interview with the Vampire, Taltos, Animal Farm, Vanity Fair, Pride & Prejudice, Choke, & Lullaby. I'm an eclectic reader & I'm always up to read something new even if it's bad I tend to push through & give it a chance. Knowledge is knowledge whether good or bad.

I'm currently involved with two novels, the classic, Middlemarch by George Eliot, and a modern novel, Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter, by a Southern writer, Tom Franklin. Both books are remarkable. How about you, what are you currently reading?

message 1278: by Jim (new)

Jim Power (jimpower) | 5 comments When a fellow writer said that I should write a western novel, I found the idea intriguing. Then I did something I've never done before. I let the novel write itself.

Let me explain. Everyday I started at 8:30 a.m., merely sitting at the computer with no outline and no idea what would happen. I was determined to watch the novel unfold just as a viewer would watch a movie. And that's precisely what happened with my novel, Blaze. The novel wrote itself. All I did was tap the keys.

It's odd, you know, because I was thinking about Edward Snowden at the time and there is a theme in the novel about the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

There is also some historical and painful information, along with a scorching hot love story. Check it out sometime. For some readers it may seem a little odd, but others will get it.

- Jim Power

Jim Power sometimes writes under his pen name of Summer Newman, including the novel, Blaze. He has been published internationally by 60 magazines and newspapers, including by the Smithsonian Institution and by many of the top outdoors magazines in North America. He has a long history of publishing fiction, from dozens of short stories in New York magazines to seven novels in 2013/2014. He studied Honors English at Saint Mary's University and majored in Russian Literature at Dalhousie University before becoming a writer. In his youth he hitch-hiked tens of thousands of miles.

Mkittysamom (mkittysabkworm) | 9 comments Hi all! I'm Meghan Duce, from Wisconsin. My favorite book is Go Ask Alice by Beatrice Sparks and On a Pale Horse (Incarnations of Immortality, #1) by Piers Anthony .

My favorite Author is Piers Anthony

I have been following Oprah since her beginnings on tv, and I love her spiritual insites, her magazine and her Book Club. I just think she is such an inspiration to so many people who she has devoted her life to. I'm sure that she is genuine and has worked hard to be where she is and most importantly who she is. Knowing and loving yourself along with being spiritual is a tough task but is the most promising reward to life.

I have my own blog which you could see from my profile page if you wanted. That's a new project for me so would be great if you stopped by and left a comment and shared some book love. Please be kind, I'm just learning :-)

Yvonne Medley | 1 comments Reading and writing are great empowerment sources. So glad you've plugged in. My name is Yvonne J. Medley. I'm an author and a journalist (my two novels just may be in a library near you. My novella is somewhere out there, too), but I'm saying this to say that as a woman, empowerment grew tangible for me the moment I stop procrastinating and picked up my pen (okay, so now it's pecking on my laptop). I began to exercise my passion, and made my voice be heard. Today, my life is fueled by encouraging others to do the same. There's nothing like it!!! Give it a try. Sounds like you have something to say. Blessings, Yvonne
