You won't regret it Belinda - £10 well spent (can't find a euro symbol on my keyboard, but you know what I mean :D).

I didn't think I'd use my phone to read books on, but it does have its uses, when out and about and I don't want to take my kindle with me. I can sync between the two.

What I love about the kindle is the volume of books you can get for free - nearly all the classics out of copyright are available free. So if that's all you like reading then you never need pay for another book ever again!

welcome to all! Please add me as a friend if you want :)

message 53: by Belinda (new)

Belinda (belindaj) I must admit I haven't read any of the classics for years, but I can see that being able to read on your phone definitely has its uses, especially if you already have a kindle - I'm just not sure I'd want to read an entire book on my phone.

Looking forward to the book arriving, anyway, even if it does take a few days via the postal route!

Joanne | 8 comments Hi, I'm Jo. I have studied Literature to MA level but I have become very, very lazy in my reading habits. Yes, I am ashamed of myself!!

If The Snow Child is still being read, I'll get a copy.

:-)

Elizabeth (merelyreading) Welcome to the group Jo. If you've got a kindle or kindle app then The Snow Child is still only £1.49 at Amazon.

I've added you as a friend :)

message 57: by Joanne (new)

Joanne | 8 comments Jo again - for some reason I have two accounts! It's this one I need to use, so I will friend people through this.

message 68: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hello, I'm Sandra, living in Teesside. This is the first book group I've ever joined so am a bit toe-dipping at the moment, also I've 20+ on my 'to read' list so won't be looking to take up any group challenges, yet.

message 69: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (merelyreading) Welcome to the group Sandra :)

You could always gradually add your read books to the A-Z author challenge list and see where it takes you, if you like. There's plenty of general discussions on here too even if you don't do any of the challenges.

We have a monthly group read, so feel free to join in with that, and add a book you'd like to nominate for next month's read if you want to. We're reading and discussing The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey at the moment.

Tresor | 9 comments Hi - my name is Janet and I'm in Gloucestershire. Was moseying around on Good Reads yesterday and saw that your book for January is The Snow Child, which is my next book to read so I was tempted to join the group. Intrigued by the Vipers Challenge for 2013 too - will post my choices when I've worked out what they are - quite a challenge in itself! Have a 12 year old daughter and finding that I've got more time to read these days. Work part time in a library so lots of opportunities to find new inspiration.

Hello Janet and welcome to our group :)

message 86: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (merelyreading) Welcome to the group Janet. There's still plenty of time to read The Snow Child for this month's group read but don't look at the spoiler thread as some of us have already finished and started to discuss it.

We nominate and vote on a group read for each month so, if you'd be interested in taking part in that, add your nomination to the thread.

We have a couple of other challenges running too, in the challenge folder. Feel free to try one of those too if you fancy.

Rebecca Howell Hi phew taken me a while to Suss out how to input my introduction. Anyway I live in Poole , Dorset. I have two children, a dog, cat, chickens, guinea pigs, a rabbit and some fish. My own little farm which is very popular with fiends children during warm summer days. I love to read and try to use reading as a way of de stressing during the day, however I tend to end up nodding off which actually is annoying when I am reading a good book. I like all genres and am happy to try people's recommendations.
