Vanishing Point is apparently hard to come by. This is not insurmountable, We could choose another book. Would you guys like to poll again? We're running low on time, so I'll go with whatever the consensus is tonight.

I'm going to read it anyway, since I have it in hand.
I'll probably just skip this month. I can't get it at the library, but will eventually find a copy and comment on the thread if I feel led. December's such a busy month anyway ... :)
I think we should stick with it. It wouldn't be fair to people who have already ordered the book, or made the effort to get it from their library. It would also be a scramble to pick a new book and expect everyone to have it for the weekend. We also have a readily available selection for the mod pick as an alternative. My biggest reason, though, is that I've just finished reading Vanishing Point myself and I'm looking forward to discussing it with the group.

I think your suggestion of going with second place is a great option if we get a lot of posts requesting to change.
Whether or not we pick an additional book, we have to discuss Vanishing Point. As Daniel points out, some people have already gone to a fair amount of trouble and/or expense to obtain a copy. Besides, it's a brilliant book. If we want to ADD another book for anyone who feels left out in the cold, we could add one with a discussion date later than Dec. 1. Or, we could throw open suggestions for a "Buddy Read" for any members who want another alternative. I'm willing to moderate Vanishing Point, even if it turns out Daniel and I are the only ones discussing it.
