Someone who offers his/her expertise in their relevant field of technology. And yes, I hope so this group goes a long way in terms of active members.

message 2170: by jzee (new)

jzee | 7 comments Hi all,

Just wondering if this group is still having active (on goodreads) members?

As for introduction, I am an engineer by profession and mostly read books in Punjabi, Urdu & English (fiction, non-fiction, history & poetry with an occasional attempt at reading Persian poetry.

message 2171: by Zarshal (new)

Zarshal Saeed (zarshalsaeed) | 814 comments Oh a fellow engineer. Hey @jzee (is that like the rapper?)
I warmly welcome you to this group if you’re new here, if not, welcome back. To answer your question, there are active members here. Some more than others. But we’re mostly students and busy with studies or professionals busy with their, well, professional lives. So, this is kind of a sanctuary we turn to from time to time to take our minds off the stress of the demanding world out there. You’ll find we’re sometimes more active, and sometimes not so active here. But there is always someone around to talk to.

You can check out some threads here and there. Play games, talk about general stuff, buddy read, read some of the stuff the members have written and shared over the years, etcetera, etcetera.

I hope you have a good time!

Adam.ant Bookeater (adamant_bookeater) | 23 comments hey guys!
I'm 19, I'm currently looking into medical majors.
I do reading to escape this world, I love to read fantasy, a lot of people tell me to read biographies and safar namas but I just can't, I don't wanna gain anything tbh, I just wanna get out of this world and enter another.
I also love cats, I can sketch a little and I am a total introvert in person.

Hi @Adam.ant Good to hear from you. I guess there is nothing right or wrong about liking a particular genre. And yes, you do not "have to" read anything just because it is being suggested unless it genuinely interests you (while I personally have read the travelogues). The escape bit is true for me as well even when reading non-fiction 🫣🤭

I haven't been much active in discussions around here. But this seems interesting.

Mohammad Shaheer | 12 comments Hello Everyone!
My name is Shaheer and I am currently in the final year of my Electrical Engineering degree from NUST. I started reading in July 2022 when my vacations started as a means to reduce my depression and anxiety. I am a novice reader and have only read highly popular books like Harry Potter, Maze Runner, etc. Currently, I am reading the 2nd book of The Hunger Games (Catching Fire). I don't like self-help books and they don't help me much (besides my subjects at the university are also similar so they kind of bores me).

Thall (recantrecantrecant) | 599 comments Another engineer. Why does this group attract so many unemployed people?

message 2184: by Zarshal (new)

Zarshal Saeed (zarshalsaeed) | 814 comments @Thall, no, it’s just that sometimes people decide it’s better to start rambling than simply saying they don’t want to answer a question.

message 2190: by Bheesham (new)

Bheesham | 4 comments I'm Bheesham, a book lover and aspiring writer. I joined this group to get some feedback on my manuscript - it's all about the future of science and technology, set in the year 3020. I've got some pretty wild ideas about how science and spirituality will come together to create new laws and transform the world as we know it.

Since this is my first book, I'd love to connect with a few people who could give me some feedback and help me out. So if you're interested in being a part of this exciting journey, please feel free to add me and let's get talking! Thanks a ton and cheers!

message 2191: by Ramla Zareen (new)

Ramla Zareen Ahmad | 585 comments Welcome to the group @Bheesham Your book sounds very interesting and I wish you all the best with it :-)

I was wondering, have you checked out the Beta Reader Group? You can connect with awesome beta readers there. Some charge for their services but a lot of them critique manuscripts for free. I found the group very helpful when I was writing my book.

Here's the link if you're interested:

Hope this helps, and again, best of luck :-)
