giselayvonne | 21 comments I have not yet felt driven to remark on a reader, but in this case, I felt as if I were truly there. An excellent job with this chapter! As far as Melville goes, "While his one live leg made lively echoes along the deck, every stroke of his dead limb sounded like a coffin-tap." duplicitous and delicious! I love this chapter's hanging on and waiting for the gale which lies at the Cape. I remember being mesmerized by the far off locations as a child, and too this day, love watching sailing films about daring sailors rounding them. It truly is a point where you leave the ocean you know and go through hell to get to the ocean you want to know. Melville made a literary voyage, complimented by this reader, as challenging and terrifying as it must be for the most seasoned sailor, even with today's instrumentation.
