[General] Introduce Yourself!
Thanks Marco. That bit freaked me out a tadMarco wrote: "James wrote: "Purplycookie wrote: "Hi, my name's Purplycookie (guess I'm not into giving out my real name online). I'm an English teacher to Gr. 7 students. I looove reading; I simply can't deal w/..."
That's one thing that's a dream of mine to see happen in the Phils., for each town/city to have a fully acessible public library :)Nenette wrote: "Sali na rin ako, para may kasama si Doni na 45 y/o din. Jalandoni wrote: "Alin ba ang pinakamagandang (pinakamaraming selections) Booksale? "The best Booksale for moi is BS SM Manila and BS Pirates' cove..er, I mean, Booksale Makati Cinema Square. Medyo malayo nga lang from your place. But I love SM Manila because they have a 10-peso hardbound bin. No best-sellers there, but if you have an eye for rare, good books and the knack for finding them, then it's a steal.
The Makati Cinema square branch carries a lot of hardbounds as well and if you're lucky you can find best sellers for like 30 pesos a pop. The trick to booksale buying, IMO, is luck so really it doesn't matter which branch you go to. I personally think (as jhunagev once mentioned) it's the book that finds you. Happy Hunting :)
Thanks, Lynai. Diverse sounds like no age discrimination to me.Marco, yes, I take it back. Bagets means Aga Mulach and you are a lot young aer than that! In fact, yours will be more like Jonas Brothers' era. You are as young as my daughter.
Salamat, jzhunagev! Puwede bang palitan ang pangalan mo? Hirap i-type.... jzhu na lang kaya?
Nenette, thanks for joining me. I will invite my older brother Tata J so I will not be the oldest here. har har har
Thank for the welcome, Christine!

Alien po sya; may pagka-makulit, pero okay sya. One of the reasons kaya anti-stress ko ang Filipinos here in Goodreads.

Hello. My name is Tyler. Amerikano ako, pero two years ako tumira sa Pilipinas. I love the Philippines and Bob Ong books (yan pa lang kasi yung nabasa kong Filipino books.) Estudyante ako sa Utah State University. English yung course na kinukuha ko. Some of my favorite books are East of Eden, Slaughterhouse Five, The Sun Also Rises, Things Fall Apart, and Ang Paboritong Libro ni Hudas (syempre, ah!)
Anyway, I'm happy to see such a large group of Filipino readers. I'm looking for more Filipino writers to read (because, like I said, Bob Ong is the only one I really know...besides Rizal, I guess), so any recommendations are welcome.
Okay lang yan Aaron Vincent, the better for our friends abroad to understand you...Really, I do want to use my ancient tongue Zapoid here, course no one will understand me... he.he.he.je.je.je ~^^~
@Marco thanks Mod :)@jzhunagev Ill still try use Filipino here though so it'll be cooler. And from what place is Zapoid exactly spoken??! Kidding. Thanks for the f.request btw. :)
@Aaron, that's the planet where I came from... i've been stuck here on Earth for years now... and then I imbibed their culture...BTW, tokneneng tastes GREAT! you should try them...
I'm learning how do they cook it and I'm gonna set my self a business empire out of tokneneng!! hahaha...
Too bad I can't return to Zapoid...
HHHHEEEEYYYYY!!! I got an idea! Since you're a system programmer why don't you help me fix my spacegyro!
That would be swell don'you think?
@Lynai thanks. :)@jzhunagev dude you're weird.!!! You need a genius to fix your spacegyro not a system programmer.! hehe. what's a tokneneng??
yeah! weird is my middlename... not counting loony which is my surname...Are you a Pinoy? Really, everyone here knows what a tokneneng is... and by golly someone might've ate one...
Yeah. I believe I am 100% Pinoy. Although I really dont know what a tokneneng is. I ask Mr. Google about it. :)Edit: Oh. its the quail egg with the orange covering sold at the streets. I have eaten that, i just didnt know that tokneneng is its name. 8)

Bakit ang galing mo mag Tagalog? Just wondering. :)
Hello there, new to Goodreads and new to the group, fortunately not new to books, actually my bibliophilia was only revived 5 years ago, thanks to video gaming (fortunately toned that down to accomodate reading), the books that i read when i was younger(8-14 yrs old i think) were more of the mystery genre (hardy boys, nancy drew), these days i prefer sci-fi and fantasy books.. i wish i never gave up books
Welcome Jon! Kamusta ka!I myself is a sci-fi and fantasy buff... Try mu yung RiftWar Saga ni Raymond E. Feist... ganda nun... Sa sci-fi, I'm just starting to collect some of Ray Bradbury's books...
Feel at home ka dito, Jun!! ^_^

Gald you like him Jon... mas nauna ko pa nga siyang basahin kaysa kay Tolkien... What I like about the guy is he is true to his world... Lahat ng books niya is set in Midkemia... hindi katulad ni Terry Brooks na masyadong maraming ginagawang mundo... Hahaha!I'm hunting for some of Terry Goodkind lalo na yung series niyang Sword of truth Series...
For now ang trip ko ay mga horror-suspense novels. Most particularly the works of Stephen King...
Enjoy!! ^_^
Hello! I think I'm definitely one of the new people here in this group! :DI'm MJ (a nickname. I really don't like my "M" as it is for Maria. Ugh, my parents are too classy.Hehe!)
I'm a sophomore student at UP-Los Banos, taking up BA Communication Arts, major in Writing. Believe it or not, I just recently (a few weeks ago, maybe?) discovered this website. How? I was looking for a good quote/line from Paulo Coehlo's The Zahir, but I got too tired to flip through my own copy. So anyway--BOOM! Goodreads was linked in when I googled Paulo Coelho.
I usually put in my book reviews at my Multiply site but recently, I've only been putting film reviews there, so I decided to join somewhere else.
Goodreads is an awesome website. A true haven for booklovers (like us!) :D
About the books I read, I'm not really into a particular genre. I usually read books that are recommended (that's why goodreads is such a helpful site for me!) But recently, though technically an adult now, I have been reading some young adults stuff like The Mortal Instrument trilogy, Percy Jackson, and some titles from Alex Flinn (Beastly, A Kiss in Time, etc.)
Nicholas Sparks novels are some of my favorites, too. It's a guilty pleasure to read some pop-romance from him and sometimes from Cecilia Ahern as well!
One Hundred Years of Solitude and Revolutionary Road are the greatest novels ever written! Not to mention the Catcher in the Rye and To Kill A Mockingbird.
Anyhow, I really think I will be enjoying my time here. (I actually am already, to tell you the truth.)
Nice to meet all of you! :D
maligayang Welcome sa iyo Mj dev Jesus! Please feel free to join the discussions in this group..
Thanks!
Creepy cheers to you! ^_^
Hi MJ! Hi Jon! Welcome to both of you. Thanks to you, Im not the "greenbean" (The term coined for the newest newbie by the Gladers from James Dashner's The Maze Runner.). :) Enjoy here.@MJ glad we share almost the same reading list. I also finished TMI and I'm now working on PJ&O second book. :)
Hi! newbie here. :) I can't believe I found this site just now :( cn i join here po?heheAnyways,I'm a fellow booklover/bookworm.you can call me Claire.I'm from Bacolod City.I started with Archie Comics nd Sweet Valley series nung elementary ako. Most of the books I read are chick-lits, I dunno,I just have a thing for this genre,it's as if I'm biting into a blueberry cheese cake pag yan ang genre na binabasa ko.hehe. But sometimes it depends upon my mood,I also read Dan Brown's, Bob Ong's, Anne Rice's books and so on, though I'm not really into the Romance genre. For me kasi reading is a hobby, I really enjoy doing it. I hope I'm welcome here :)
It was P0.05/word during my elementary days in the province (mid 70s). LOL. I was so scared because my daily baon is only P0.75 and snacks are normally P0.25. I had to be careful not speaking any Tagalog words except during Pilipino and Araling Panlipunan subjects. Now, in the office building where I work at, there are many call centers and in the gate I could see "English Speaking Zone - Speak only English from this point"
Hi Minerva! Welcome to Goodreads. I like Dan Brown too.HI Marco! Yeah, I am decades behind. LOLZ.
Happy New Year to both of you! Let's read more books in 2010!
thanks for the warm welcome everyone :)hey jzhun, kaya pala your pic looks familiar,I think I saw you in one of the bookstores sa multiply.wula lang.ahehe.
