The series is about two detectives. Not much police involved. I think you will like Lehane's style and plots, especially on his series. :)

I found my copy of Shutter Island from Booksale. You might chance upon one there. :)

Good luck with the hunt, Kristel! Looking forward to your review of The Shutter Island. :)

I might try reading Mario Puzo one of these days. I have seen lots of his books at Booksale too. Which book would you recommend for a a first read?

message 3223: by Joanna (new)

Joanna | 17 comments hello! im Joanna (100% filipina) and I'm 14. i think that in my whole family, i'm the only one who likes to read book so i'm completely clueless where i got it.

i live in London, England and i moved here less than 3 years ago. i only started reading loads of books when i came here because i can borrow books from the library and there are loads of choices that i cannot help myself, next thing i knew i borrowed four books at one time! (yeah, i know) LOL. :)

wala na akong maisip... hmm... i love reading YA books. i only have a bookshelf with 3 layers in it and i need more! :D im planning to get a kindle but i really think that i will miss turning the pages of a book sooo much.

one time, i let my friend borrow one of my books and when she brought it back, one big chunk of the book fell off when i opened it. i was like, 'what the hell?' she told me she was going to replace it but never did! haizz,,... :( yeah.. from then on, i couldnt let her borrow any more of my books.

feel free to ask me other questions if you want. :)

message 3224: by Maria (new)

Maria (mariasm) | 2441 comments welcome joanna! wow, all the way from london!

i got a kindle but i still buy and read PB and HB books. if you like travelling or a fast reader, then buy a kindle. it works for me, 2-3 books i can finish on a 4D3N trip :)

hirap magpahiram noh? OC pa nman ako sa books ko.

enjoy GR Filipinos!

message 3225: by Maria (new)

Maria (mariasm) | 2441 comments Clockwork Angel is just an OK book for me. Para syang CoFA, after reading the book you were left with more questions than when you started reading it.

K.D. Absolutely (oldkd) | 6065 comments JOANNA: Wow! First time to have a member who is actually in London! Noooo, our former moderator, Marco, is also there. Di ba Jzhun?

SHUTTER ISLAND: I want to be your reading buddy if you want to read this book. My copy is gathering dust in my bookshelf. An American friend rated this with 5 stars but kagaya ni Joyzi tinatamad ako, I just bought the movie and watched it. Pangit. Di ko tinapos. The eyebrows of Leonardo de Carpio irritated me. Just like in Inception. I do not know why. I liked him in Titanic when he does not use his eyebrows to show his feelings.

So, I want to read the book because De Carpio will not be there.

Kristel (fanarchist) | 489 comments @Lynai: The two books I've read of Puzo are The Godfather and Omerta. I love them both, but I think going with the classic The Godfather first is a great way to introduce yourself into the world.

@K.D.: I'll post on the Reading Buddies thread once I secure myself a copy. I'd love to read Shutter Island with you. :D
