Amaranth (aeternumamaranth) | 2 comments Hello! I'm Amaranth and I'm a college student currently enjoying her summer in Florida. I've been in goodreads for a couple years now but only recently been trying to connect with people. I love reading books, especially books with great world-building, manga, and fanfiction. Recently I've been reading a lot of Discworld series, but I've also enjoyed Harry Potter, Young Wizards series by Diane Duane, Worldweavers, Circle of Magic series among others.

I can understand tagalog quite well and currently working on relearning the language well enough to communicate, so hopefully being in this group could help.

Hello to all!

message 8380: by Sigrid (new)

Sigrid Doux | 2 comments Hi!!! I'm ummm... kinda new here I'm Sigrid. ^_^
I have loved books since I can remember... I think the first book I read was Princess Sara, and I was 6, I think. I didn't understand what was the story all about, because I was just 6. lol

I re-read it when I was 8... wait I was in second grade that time, I was 7. I finally understood the story, besides watching it in the movies.

I also read, ONE of Meg Cabot books; The New Girl. I got it for my ninth birthday, along with the other books it came along that I didn't bother to open, because I thought it was too "educational." Picky for a nine year old, right?

Then, I started to have interests in more fictional books like; The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars, The Secret Circle, Divergent, Perks of Being a Wallflower, Nancy Drew, etc. Because I first saw them in a film adaptation or series adaptation.

I started to collect the Nancy Drew book collection. Even though, I just collected five... I'm content. ;)

I always liked the novels, series... or the book that have trilogy, or whatever, something like Beautiful Creatures, Harry Potter, etc.

message 8381: by Paolo (new)

Paolo Hi. New here. Not really a bookworm. Haven't read books for the longest time... but for some reason - three weeks ago - I decided to restart my reading habit (for the nth time).

Since then, I've finished Gone Girl. Rated it 4 stars here. The first half of that book was excellent. The 2nd half not so much.

Also currently reading three (3) books:
(1) A Voyage to Arcturus (currently at 66%; really weird book)

(2) Inherent Vice (currently at 48%; it's okay. not a fan of pynchon's sprawling run-on sentences though)

(3) The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle (barely started)

Books I'm planning to read soon:
- Perdido Street Station
- Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption
- Child 44
- The Giver
- American Gods

I'm drawn a lot to books with upcoming film adaptations since I also love movies :)

message 8384: by Hafshie (new)

Hafshie (hafshie09) | 4 comments hi! l'm new in the group. my friends call me hafshie or haffi. choose which of the 2 nnames you want to call me. or u can have both! haha.

l'm actually not a very active member of goodreads due to my nursing life. But now that I'm on a break, I try to make the best of it by reading lots of books. I am a random book reader. but that's because I'm still on the verge of discovering my heart to which genre it belongs... I love reading but I haven't read a lot of books. when I said a lot, I mean like hundreds or thousands and so on. I only have a few collection of books because I can't always afford them or I have a much needed item to buy. that's why big thanks to ebooks! I love to have hardcopies but ebooks is just great for now. when I have build my own library that's the time I'll collect lots of books. :) I'm actually dreaming right now. haha...

anyways, I'm Filipino po tlga not considering my birthplace. I speak English a lot online because it's more comfortable and most sites I visit are English speaking. but I always speak Tagalog in person. BTW, the only Filipino books I've read are that of Dr José Rizal's and Bob ong's. and I'll consider ibong adarna and florante at laura which are required at school and of those posted at wattpad if it counts. but I would love to read books other of Filipino authors if only I can get a copy of it. if some of you here can share then that would be amazing! I live in Baguio city for like 11 years now, if u want to visit and lend me some books or u can do it online too. haha

To close it off, I'm so glad I found the group just like I found this website because through this I can connect with people who loves too read esp. Filipino who I might meet one day! I'd love to go on an f2f discussion but idk when it's possible. I still live under my parents roof and 'their house, their rules' is the number one house rule. and there's no way they will let me meet w/ people I've only known online. but I can always sneak out that is if only here in Baguio city. just let me knw if you happened to be here! this is all, I think.. not so much about myself but feel free to ask me questions related to reading books. nice meeting you all! :)

By the way, I'm Angus, your resident reklamador. I've been a member of Goodreads since January 2011 and I've joined the group's meetups since April 2011. And I'm still here because people are wonderful and because apparently, no one is a murderer.

Devi (themissusreads) | 3 comments Hello. I am really new everywhere, in this group and in Goodreads. So if you will be kind enough to add me..Haha.

I read anything. When I became a mom, I became obsessed in collecting books. I wish I could read as much as I can but I read whenever I can, which means, I have no work and the tot is asleep. Thank you so much.

I guess that's all :)

message 8390: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (atracya) | 7 comments Hi everyone! Tracy here, 25. I'm not new in Goodreads (member since December 2012), but new in this group.

I've read a lot of books, mostly adult books but I've started reading books from other genres. I need new story lines. very predictable na ang ending pag nag stick sa iisang genre, right? Anyway, the first book I read was Fifty Shades of Grey, and after reading the trilogy I wanted more! Wanted to be lost in someone's mind and world again! and that was the time I started piling up my TBR shelf.

I'm from QC, so if ever there would be meet ups around this area, pwede ba ko sumama? ang hirap kasi na walang mapag kwentuhan ng mga bagay bagay tungkol sa libro pag ang mga nakakausap ko eh hindi naman interesado sa kwento, sa libro, o sa pagbabasa ng libro. add me kwentuhan tayo. :)

message 8391: by Angus (new)

Angus (angusmiranda) | 4337 comments Hi Devi! We're also obsessed in collecting books. It's fun, no?

Hi Tracy! Of course pwede kang sumama. Yung next meetup ay sa Makati. Baka pwede ka nun?

message 8392: by Maxx (new)

Maxx (capreads) | 16 comments Hi everyone! :D

My name's Maxinne. You can call me Maxx para mas maiksi, haha! I'm not new in Goodreads pero recently lang ako naging active since nagbabasa na uli ako. Nag lie low kasi ako sa reading without knowing why. Maybe, I didn't have time. Now, naghahabol tuloy ako ng babasahin dahil sobrang daming magagandang librong na-publish.

I'm also obsessed in collecting books. Don't have enough money to do so, though. Gusto ko nga gawing booshelf na lang yung kwarto ko hahaha! Well, since, walang pambili, I'm sticking to ebooks for now kahit masakit sa mata.

Ang daldal ko, sorry. Well, it's nice being here. I hope to get to know most of you if not all :D

BTW, I read all kinds of books. Currently, I love Divergent, THG, John Green's and Gayle Forman's. Though, If I Stay, Where She Went, An Abundance of Katherines and Looking for Alaska are still in my "to-read".

I'm also an avid fan of Nancy Holder. I love her books so much especially Possessions Series. Check it out! Hindi kayo magsisisi :D

Yup, a lot actually. :) like R.K. Liley, Silvia Day, Belle Aurora, Alice Clayton, Elle Casey, Christina Lauren, Shay Savage, Jodi Ellen Malpas, Olivia Cunning. For dark erotica try Pepper Wintes, C.J. Roberts, Aleatha Romig, Gwendolyn Field. Enjoy!
