[General] Introduce Yourself!
Hello! My name is Mae. I've had this account for years but I only really started using it this year. I don't have a preference when it comes to genre, I'll read anything except romance novels. I'm not too keen on the romance genre so I usually stay away from that. I just finished Ready Player One by Ernest Cline and am now trying to decide what to read next. Kinda torn between The Snow Child and The Flame Alphabet. Thanks for accepting me into the group and I'm looking forward to discovering new books and having interesting discussions with you guys. :)
Welcome Newbies!well, i like the Twilight Saga. To be more specific, Twilight and Eclipse. Never mind New Moon and Breaking Dawn. Never mind the movies.
Rollie: fave mo to db! LOL
Hello Mae!I did like The Flame Alphabet, although it does lean more towards a contemplative writing style as opposed to Ready Player One.

Ehhhh???? Naging angel or spirit????
Thanks for the welcome, guys!Charles wrote: "Hello Mae!

I ended up choosing The Flame Alphabet. I'm about a third in and I like it so far. You're right about the writing style and I find it a welcome change from the my previous read.

Hi! My name is Tin and I love to read Fantasy YA followed by dystopia, contemporary, historical and fairy tale retellings. Some of my favorite books are: Harry Potter Series, The Hobbit, LOTR Trilogy, His Dark Materials Trilogy, Bartimaeus Trilogy, Sabriel, Hunger Games Trilogy, Chaos Walking, American Gods, Anansi Boys, Queen of Attolia, A Northern Light, etc. I am also a member of the Filipino Book Bloggers Community and am blogging for about a year now. :D http://rabbitin.blogspot.com/

Hi, Tin! I believe you commented on my blog for my Bittersweet review? :) Welcome!GoT is 800+ pgs (MMP), FoTR is 400+ pgs (HB). It took me 2 months to finish GoT, FoTR 3 days at most (ung first read ko).
Astig ang GoT, but i don't like GRRM killing off MCs. Major badtrip for me.
Oh my.
(change topic) =p
i want TRUE DEATH for Bella. hahaha!!!Naiiyak ako kapag nakikita ko syang pathetic slash constipated.

Hihi. :)

Hi Maria! I think it was for your review of Monstrumologist and you had a comment on my review for The Ask and The Answer. :)
800 pages? Yiii! It might take me longer than 2 months to finish that. I remember that it took me a long time to finish each of the books in the LOTR trilogy (and The Hobbit). Mainly because of how it is written, which made it difficult for me to get into. But all ended up as favorites. I hope GOT would be the same for me. From what I've heard it is grislier, with LOTR being more wholesome. :)
Ay, I don't like authors killing off MCs either especially if I have grown fond of a certain character. Masakit sa loob. ;)
Charles wrote: "Tin: bumisita yung mga taga-Read Philippines dito earlier this month :P"Hi Charles! Talaga? :) I'm glad to be a member of both communities. :D

==========[ THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. I AM POSTING THIS MERELY TO MAXIMIZE READ COUNT. ]
Hello there!
This is DC. I'll be moderating the book discussion for TFG's October book-of-the-month.
In case you're not aware of it, the group talks about one book each month, taken from the TFG's Top 100 list, as may be seen HERE . This discussion (online and face-to-face) allows the members of the group to explore different books - effectively spreading the word that there ARE great books that may lie outside your preferred genre!
(By the way, our current book of discussion is The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro. You may find the current discussion for this book HERE .)
Now, I'd like to ask for your help in choosing the book for October (seeing as the months prior to that already have a set book, as you may see HERE ). Our theme for that month would be relating to Women and Classics. The choices are as follows:
PRIDE AND PREJUDICE by Jane Austen
THE SECRET GARDEN by Frances Hodgson Burnett
LITTLE WOMEN by Louisa May Alcott
Right now, the set book for October is Pride and Prejudice . It's not too late, though! You can still change this by voting on our poll HERE . (We need around 180 members to VOTE in order to change this.)
Is there a book among the three that seems challenging or different from what you're reading right now? Maybe you've thought of reading one of these, but haven't actually pushed through with it? If so - VOTE for it, and maybe you'll end up reading it in October! Your voice counts! (Oh, and please note that the poll ends by July 7.)
"A single grain of rice can tip the scale. One man may be the difference between victory and defeat."
I sincerely hope to see your participation in this endeavor :) Thank you very much for reading this, and may you all have a great day!
Cheers!
-DC

Maldita, binalahura ni Meyer ang Vampire myth. Katawa rin yung glitter thing. Parang tanga lang.
Jayvee, I haven't read Clancy yet, but whatever suits you, go! :D
