Hi guys, I'm Jill. Been lurking around the threads lately but I dont remember introducing myself since the day I joined this group. Would like to join your discussion on Jane Eyre. Have read this a long time ago (really long time, like high school hehe). I'm based pala on Saudi but goes home yearly. Anyhow, hello and have a good day everyone :)
Hi Jill! I'm glad Jane Eyre was able to pull out a member from lurking. You are most welcome to post your thoughts on it. Kindly check the thread designated for it.So far, most of us have not started it yet (since it's not yet April? Hehe). Welcome to the group! :)
Si Jack nasa box (mas corny!)Naku magkabilang dulo kami ng dad mo, sa Al Ahsa ako. At least doon, medyo "open."
Angus, naku, I tried to be active and read Hitchhiker's Guide kaso, I dropped it :) Will attempt to read it again though some time.
LS: Oo nga, bakit ang iksi? My copy is 493 pages. With your audio book, that's 4 hours worth of listening lang, e feeling ko sa April pa ako matatapos sa book. hehehe
LS: Mukhang audiobook advocate ka ha :) I would love a copy, thanks. At least sa Jeddah, I think pwede kahit wala nang abaya and mas lenient sila.
LS wrote: "Jill: Depende e. Yung mga fast readers, like AennA, nababagalan sila sa audiobook. Ako naman, since mabagal akong magbasa (not to mention tamad pa; ay na-mention ko na), I find audiobooks faster. ..."
Actually, wag mo lang sasabayan ang audio book ng pagbabasa din, kasi mababagalan ka talaga. Ginawa ko lang kasing experiment. hehehe
Jill: Sinong Jack? and the Beanstalk? (super corny)Welcome to the group.

:DHi Tsukime~ i'm not familiar with the books you are reading so i was curious. megende?

I just read your reply, Angeli. I am Joyce Shaughnessy. I live in Midland, TX, USA. I write only historical fiction, and for some reason I have a fascination with the Philippines. I have published 2 books, A Healing Place, which starts with the Great American Depression, but ends with the son-in-law in the Philippines, walking the Death March and ending up in Cabanatuan during WWII. After learning that much about the Philippines during WWII, I couldn't just leave it at that, so I wrote "Blessed Are the Merciful, Our Forgotten Soldiers," which I thought pretty much told the story of what happened to the Filipinos and Americans who fought the war and ended up in prison camps, on Hell Ships, and the women nurses and civilians in internment camps. There is a romance in the second book also, between a nurse and a soldier who walks the Death March.
Then, after finishing that book, I found out about The Unsurrendered, so now, between promoting and staying on the internet, I am researching and writing my third book about the Philippines in WWII called, "The Unsurrendered, A Search for Jacob". It has a romance between a Filipina and a Major in the American Army. It tells the story of the Filipino and American Guerillas during WWII and how they take vengeance upon the Japanese by stopping their progress as much as possible throughout the islands of the Philippines and help guide the U.S. when it returns to free everyone.
It seems that I have become enamored of the Filipino people and their heritage that I can't stop. Every time I finish a book, I find more that fascinates me and I have to write about.
I love the Philippine culture, the islands, the friendliness and couragous nature of its people, just everything I guess.
Hope you will check out the books I have written because they will enlighten you about what happened then, if you aren't already aware of it. Thanks and welcome to the group.
