Hellooooooo!! Glad to have discovered a group with great Filipino minds in it. Ola bonita! Cmon' mamon! Estela Banana here. Glad to meet y'all! Hihi
Hi, Angus! I feel infinite, as always. I've just finished the Infernal devices books 1 and 2 and started reading City of Fallen Angels. And you? Hope you're having a blast today! :)
Hi Estela, welcome to TFG! Oooo. YA reader, tough luck, Angus do not read YA, I mean, he read mostly literary novels. Hikhik!
Hi Micah, a newbie too?Estela, I'm not really in the best of moods (office stuff). Currently reading Kavalier and Clay.
Kwesi, I'll be reading Jellicoe Road (for May). I have a future YA book in my read shelf.
@Angus: Talking about ratio, you soon to read Jellicoe Road compare to your required reading for the month before May.@Estela: I'm glad! I also read any books under the sun!
@Micah: Hello girl, welcome to the group!
Kwesi 章英狮 wrote: "Hi Estela, welcome to TFG! Oooo. YA reader, tough luck, Angus do not read YA, I mean, he read mostly literary novels. Hikhik!"Oh, that's fine! I've read a couple of literary novels and they're not as bad as others think they would. Actually, I don't classify myself as an avid YA reader.
I can read mostly any type of books-even the holy ones.
PS: I'm serious. :P
Kwesi: I have nothing against YA. It's just that I don't know what to expect from them.Estela: A serious reader or just serious? :D

Hooray! At least I know that you're not hatin' on YA readers. So much for having a blast, eh? Try having a Kit-Kat? Hihi
Estela, I don't hate genre readers. In fact, I love readers! I just hate people who pretend to read. Heh!
True indeed! Those who purchase books and get excited about having one but doesn't read it at all. Grrr.. the thought of it makes me want to
Ouch??? hehe I don't know kung mahuhurt ako sa sinabi ni Estela :P I purchase books and get excited about having one but doesn't read it AGAD sometimes. I have moods na minsan di ko pa sya feel basahin pero babasahin ko naman next time...at feel ko na magkacopy agad heheheOuch??? din daw sabi ni Gina LOL.
Oh, no! You shouldn't be. You're not one of them! Purchasing a book and reading it later is okay. :)
Purchasing a book and not reading it AT ALL makes me somehow...BITTER. Hihihi :P

And a fan of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" :P
Angus wrote: "Hi Micah, a newbie too?@Angus: yup! a newbie in the group. Too busy to regularly check updates here in goodreads.
@Micah: Hello girl, ..."@Kwesi: hey :) glad to know there are still people who share the same love for books...
Hello mga kaibigan, I just joined Goodreads in an attempt to be a good author. I am the author of Tall Story which came out in the UK and RP in 2010, and in the USA in 2011. I am based in London. To be honest, I'm here in the hope of connecting with potential readers, it's so hard pala to get noticed in the book market! So anyone want to check me out, you know where to find me ... baka type niyong basahin ang Tall Story (proud to let you know it got nominated for the Carnegie Medal and has been shortlisted for 13prizes! oops, baka I'll get done for spam here so I will stop)
Anyway, I was thrilled to find a Pinoy group - maybe to start I ought to recommend two good Filipino books I read recently: Soledad's Sister by Jose Dalisay
and Banana Heart Summer by Merlinda Bobis, which I haven't finished yet. Soledad's Sister is beautifully written and very funny - although parang nagmadali siya to end it. And Banana Heart Summer is the Pinoy answer to Joanne Harris (author of Chocolat) - galing! Mabuhay to you all!
Hi Kollene welcome to the group! Haha. I read anything under the sun. I'm not picky. How about you?Hi Candy (kapal mukha ko), welcome to the group! I read your book last year and I think most members here read your book too. I still remember that one of the members here sent a copy of your book from his international friend. Thanks also for recommending books and I also read them last 2010! Haha. I love Bobis!
Candy: Kaibigan, welcome to the group. Hope to see you often here. Mabuhay ang mga Filipinong Authors. :)
@Candy- Hello and Welcome! Wow! I haven't read your book, it was on my book wishlist last Christmas. Kaso hindi natupad. LOL. I promise to read your book this year! Hehe...
Thanks for the welcome, you guys! Sayang I should have joined a week earlier then I could have given you aheads up about my World Book Day giveaway - the audiobook of Tall Story came out in the States. 5 CDs. It's weird hearing your book read. It was recorded in Random House Studios in Los Angeles by a Pinoy actor and a British voice-over actress. At first I didn't like the Pinoy actor - he rolled his Rs like a Mexican but he acts out all the voices of the characters. Now I've come to love his performance. Thanks again and I look forward to joining you in your book obsessions.
Hi, Candy! I'm a fan of your book :) I got my signed copy from Chachic's giveaway :) are you still in the Philippines?
Tricia wrote: "Hi, Candy! I'm a fan of your book :) I got my signed copy from Chachic's giveaway :) are you still in the Philippines?"Hi Tricia! No unfortunately I'm back in London again. Did Chachic tell you that we randomly bumped into each other one early morning when I was having coffee with my publisher in Coffeebean Cubao? Bizarre!
Hi! Candy, This is Po I'm a super fan of your book. I listen to your interviews from radio and read your story from a newspaper. It's inspiring, your words are simple and truthful. I hope there will be series?.hahaha! like Twilight and Harry Potter! just joking. Enjoy your stay here at "The Filipino Group" or T.F.G. Goodreads.

Welcome to the group! :) It's so nice to see you here - I remember the first time I met up with the group was also the day I bought your book to review for The POC :) I saw the cover of your next book - can't wait for that! Hope we get to meet you in person when you visit the Philippines again.
Hi! everyone! I'm sorry that I haven't been on the group at all for a long time, but my husband and I have both had pneumonia for over a month. I just couldn't write anything that didn't sound really stupid because I was too sick. Hopefuly, I am better now and can actually correspond without sounding like an idiot. I became friends with Josephine Litonjua on Facebook. She asked me to friend her and she is a member of this group, so "Hello to Josphine." I hope you haven't forgotten me after all of this time (especially since I only understand English.) Joyce Shaughnessy, www.blessedarethemerciful.net

I get nervous when I do appearances in RP - 25 years na ako abroad and my Tagalog was never great because we were originally Bisaya. But I'm always amazed when the words come! Thanks again!

Oo nga, sandali lang talaga ako! I visited Tarie's tutorial group this time, and I was amazed at how bright her writing students were. Yes I'm writing a book called Shine ... deadline ko is in two weeks!!! What am I doing here in Goodreads??? Nakaka-aliw kasi!
Hi Candy! Welcome to the group! I've seen so many good reviews about your book so I'm kind of starstruck now HAHA I haven't read it yet but it's high on my TBR pile! Congratulations and I hope you write more! ^^
Hi! everyone! I'm sorry that I haven't been on the group at all for a long time, but my husband and I have both had pneumonia for over a month.Hi Joyce, checked out your website - very nice! Sorry you've been ill and I hope you guys are much better now. Intriguing that you chose to write about the war in the Philippines. There aren't many books set during that time.
