[General] Introduce Yourself!
Nasabihan ka lang na magandang lalaki, natakot ka na! harharUso pa bang gamitin ang "magandang lalaki"? Parang very 70's harhar.
Hello, everyone :) My name is Danielle, and I'm new here. I'm 14 years old and is currently in my 2nd year in high school.
I simply adore fiction books, even better if there's romance in them. I hope we can be good friends :)

Aaron Vincent wrote: "Oohh. A fantasy fan. Brandon Sanderson is the coolest! Have you heard of the Legends of the Red Sun? All the fantasy book blogs that I follow recommends that one but it's kind of hard looking for a copy of the books here..."Hey, man. Unfortunately, I haven't heard of any of those books/authors except for of course Brandon Sanderson. Anyway, I'm usually biased when it comes to picking books, so I often choose those that have ratings of 4 and above. Haha. But if a lot of people are recommending it, I might as well give it a try sometime. I'll add it to my to-read list.
Have you read the name of the wind by Patrick Rothfuss?? Has to be my favorite book up to present.
Durrell wrote: Anyway, I'm usually biased when it comes to picking books, so I often choose those that have ratings of 4 and above.Well, lahat naman tayo biased when we choose our books. Although if you're going for (Goodreads?) ratings of 4 or higher, populist ka because it's determined by population voting :P
The only problem with Patrick Rothfuss is that only two books are out. :) But he's friendly in real life.
Aaron: try ordering Mark Charan Newton's books from the bookstore. It's by Macmillan so they should be able to acquire them.
Durrell wrote: "Have you read the name of the wind by Patrick Rothfuss?? Has to be my favorite book up to present."I used to do that, but there is a tendency to miss all those under-the-radar gems like the book I'm currently reading .
Yeah. It's been on my wishlist for a long time already. My favorite book blogger is a huge Patrick Rothfuss fanboy. I just need an inspiration for picking up yet another doorstopper. Maybe when I just finished a dreadful book? :)
Hi! :)I'm not new, though I don't really include myself in the conversation. So for a change, I'm joining in.
I love Tolkien and Gaiman's work. Angela's ashes, little women and the kite runner made me cry. and The princess bride kept me up last night laughing.
The thickest novel I read was the count of monte cristo (unabridged) and I adored every bit of it. Though I read it when i was in high school so I probably can't remember all the details.
And here's interesting, for a project in Hum1 our group made our very own version of how Wormwood answered each of Screwtape's letters. We softbounded it and submitted it to our professor. It's a shame I didn't have a copy. We had so much fun doing it. And mind you, we did it during the holy week. Talk about thinking of evil deeds on a holy week :))

Thanks. I'll do that.

He's doing a fund-raiser right now.

If that's the case, then I am a populist. Haha.
I know! His third book is taking so long to come out! Last I heard, it's coming out sometime next year. Damn. The wait's going to kill me.
Anyway, I'm new to these social book-reading sites. So, do you have other sites or blogs you could recommend where I can look for better reviews?

Woah, awesome! Did you had a fanboy moment? I bet if I had a chance to meet an awesome author, I will probably embarass myself big-time.
Durrell wrote: So, do you have other sites or blogs you could recommend where I can look for better reviews? For me it's about finding someone whose tastes are similar to yours, or completely opposite of yours (but reviews the books you might be interested in).
Kung pareho kayong hilig ni Aaron Vincent, sundan mo yung reviews niya :P

Ayt, man. Just so you know, it really is a must read! Haha.
Oh, and if you don't mind... Care to share the link of your favorite bookblogger?

Unfortunately haven't read his books yet...
Flipreads wrote: "Kung pareho kayong hilig ni Aaron Vincent, sundan mo yung reviews niya :P "I don't even write reviews anymore. :)

Noted. I actually follow a bunch of authors' reviews. So I think the same principle applies. Haha. Anyway, thanks.

No worries, dude. Thanks for the links!
I am not really new here, but only joined the group just now.My taste is toward historical fiction and award winners (slight American bias), literary classics and non-fiction. I got my start when I began to read literary classics/Newbery award winners when I was back in grade school and eventually found a niche in historical fiction and award winners of various fiction genres, with slight deviations into Grisham and Crichton.
I tried reading English novels set in the Philippines but found them 'medyo bitin' for me. I also have all of Jessica Hagedorn's published novels as well.

Hey there! Crichton reader, yay! I think I read most of his novels too :) Quite entertaining, too bad he passed away recently, but I guess it hasn't stopped him from publishing more books hehehe.
Hello Bona, welcome to the group! Lots of readers here usually discuss literary and some, uhum, out-of-this-world books. See you soon and have a nice night! Niyahaha.
Hi Danielle, welcome!Hi Venus, it's nice to see you come out of your lurking. Your Holy Week Project sounds very interesting. :D
Hi Bona Rae, I also read those award-winners, but not the Newbery winners, hehe. I think that's an award for Children's Lit?

Hi Beejay, welcome to the group. I've read Me Talk Pretty and Dress Your Family. Then I stopped reading Sedaris for some reason, hahaha.
Beejay, is that your real name?Pag may plan ka to show yourself to us baka gusto mong i-rethink kung di yan ang tunay mong pangalan.
Kasi may member dito na dati "frustrated angel" tas noong meet up,tanong namin, anong tawag namin sa yo? Frustrated or Angel. So pinalitan nya ng "Sheryl"
Tas nitong Sunday (kahapon) may dating "Chicbee" After ng meet up, naging "AennA" na.
Kasi baka tawagin ka naming Beejay in person. Parang strange kasi parang BJ (alam mo na).
Wala lang.
