[General] Introduce Yourself!
Hi, I'm CJ. Bookworm since 1975. I was 3 when I first learned to read and I haven't stopped reading since. I've got quite an extensive collection of books that span a lot of genres and authors. My personal haven are bookstores. When they first started allowing people to plop down anywhere and read to their hearts' content, I remember weeping with joy inside. Heh, maybe even a little outside too. Books back then were expensive for me.. but now I splurge and never feel an ounce of guilt or worry.
I work as an online content editor/writer for an SEO company based in New York which allows me to work from home here in Manila. Very ideal for someone like me who sets aside gobs of time for reading.
I am so glad to have found Goodreads and this group in particular.
Mother was a teacher. And a bookworm to boot. She said it stood to reason that her firstborn follow her footsteps.Thank you!
Hello Cj, I agree that it's pretty impressive. I think I learned how to read "properly" when I was four, but that didn't immediately make me a bibliophile. Welcome and enjoy!
Hi Angus. I've taken to reading and hoarding (collecting is too mild a word) books like a duck to water pretty early on. There's not a day I haven't thanked my mother profusely for this very stellar gift.Thank you for the very warm welcome :-)
Having a lot of books to read is a gift. Having no books to read is a problem. And yes, we all indulge everyone's book hoarding. :D

Haha! :DAt tamang-tama din, may UP Press book din akong hinahanap authored by Karl de Mesa. Yeah! \m/
Ted Shinzou wrote: "sino ba sa tropa mahilig sa crime novels? "Ako mahilig sa crime in general....ah, novels pala :P hehehe.
si H mahilig sa krimen? wow, good 4 you. holdaper kasi aq pag gabi. hehe. :)batang booksale din aq. and proud of it. madami na kaya akong nakulimbat na finds dun.
H, sino pala fave mong crime novelist?
Ex. UP Press, Solidaridad Bookstore, National Lib., UST Lib at Press, Warehouse ng BS. Wahahaha....
Ted Shinzou wrote: "sino pala fave mong crime novelist?"Actually, wala.
Parang magandang idea yan, kaibigang Ayban.Baka gusto mong maging organizer. Ikaw na ang chairman ng "Book Hunting Committee" or "Field Trip Committee."
This will include book hunting trips, bookstores, immersion trips at field trips sa places na related sa TFG books. Like we can go to that place or street corner sa Binondo kung saan dating nakatayo ang bahay ni Kapitan Tiyago kung saan itinapon ang lampara.
Kahit once a quarter lang.
Kwesi 章英狮 wrote: "Haha. :)
Idea for Business:Why not create a package tour.
http://lagarista.com/site/entry/film_...Pabisita.... Hahaha!
Tulad ng Langaw sa Isang Basong Gatas. Footnote to Youth. How My Brother Leon Brought Home a Wife. My Father Goes to Court. The God Stealer. Wahhh.
Onga. Malayo pala yon. Dito lang sa Maynila.

Good day everyone!I'm Durrell, but you can call me Durrz. I'm a 20 year old student studying in DLSU. My type of books are usually in the fantasy area but I do read other genres if they're good. Some books that I consider my favorite would be: The name of wind, the way of kings, Percy jackson series, mistborn, the lies of locke lamora, and the hunger games.
So, that concludes my introduction. I hope to hear from you guys and find other people with the same interests as mine.
Cheers!

LS wrote: "Welcome to the group Durrell! :D Have you read Artemis Fowl? Fantasy din sya, the first in a series; 7 books so far, the 8th coming soon this year, I think."
Thanks, LS!
I haven't read Artemis Fowl yet. Is it any good? Message me the details. :)
H wrote: Fantasy ba trip mo? Well you can't go wrong with A Song of Ice and Fire :D "I know, man. I've been trying to read that book in ages! Haha. but i've never really had the time for it. Napanuod ko na yung series though.
Hi Durrell! I imagined you're a fan of Lawrence Durrell, hehe. Welcome to the group and have fun! :D
Angus wrote: "Hi Durrell! I imagined you're a fan of Lawrence Durrell, hehe. Welcome to the group and have fun! :D"Unfortunately, I never had any idea who that guy was 'til I googled him. HAHA. Awesome stuff. I had no idea my name was part of someone big. :)) Anyway, in case you're wondering my name is actually derived from Jor-El, superman's dad.
Thanks for the warm welcome!

Angus: Baka parents nya yung fan ni Durrell hehehe.

Alright. I'll see if i can get my hands on that book then let's talk. ;)
Yeah. Rick Riordan is just an awesome author! I have not got a friend who didn't like the series. You should check them out as well.
H: Could be. I had a classmate whose name is Henrik Ibsen. His parents are professors. Cool, huh?Durrell: Are your parents fans of Lawrence Durrell? Do you have sisters named Justine or Clea? :D
Past tense???
H wrote: "Durrell wrote: "I know, man. I've been trying to read that book in ages! Haha. but i've never really had the time for it. Napa..."It goes by fast, you will almost forget that each book is over 90..."
Tagal pa! Haha. Alright, dude. I'll read the series sometime in two weeks tops. Haha. I'll finish The Blade Itself first.
Durell: Good luck...you should at least finish all 5 books before April. If you're a fast reader, you might be able to.Angus: Haha..ok yun ah, what was it, Henrik Ibsen Santos or Henrik Ibsen Gonzales? Sana literary din ang parents ko, para from a book din ang name ko. Well, it kinda is I guess...just not a very good one :P
Angus wrote: "It's cool kasi Henrik Ibsen is a giant in the Russian literary scene."Hahaha, I know who Henrik Ibsen is! I just meant, is his name really "Henrick Ibsen something" or just Henrick...? Kasi may mga kilala ako na named after celebrities, pero their full names. Like, I know someone named JC Vandamme B- or George Cloony T-. Hard to believe..but it's true. hahaha.
Durrell wrote: "Good day everyone!I'm Durrell, but you can call me Durrz. I'm a 20 year old student studying in DLSU. My type of books are usually in the fantasy area but I do read other genres if they're good. ..."
Oohh. A fantasy fan. Brandon Sanderson is the coolest! Have you heard of the Legends of the Red Sun? All the fantasy book blogs that I follow recommends that one but it's kind of hard looking for a copy of the books here. Also hearing good things about Daniel Abraham. I have read his sci-fi(w/ a dash of horror) novel and if that's any indication on how good he writes adventure stories then I will definitely try his fantasy books.
That word adds more lame points on you than the cool points. Ask Ariel. :D

And I've been to the store in college. :)
