it rejects.
it is struck twice,
it rejects.
a third strike

H: Why do you fight?
N: This is not my place.
H: Yet if you would only give in!
N: To hold firm is my virtue.

The hammer hovers,
the nail is unmoving.
the hammer is raised,
the nail is unmoving.
a fourth strike

N: Why do you persist?
H: It is why I am.
N: Yet if you would only give up!
H: To strike is to exist.

It hits!
It holds.
It hits!
It holds.
A fifth and final strike

N: You have struck your closing blow!
H: You hold your virtue fulfilled!
