not your typical biopic...

I'd tivoed it and just watched it tonight. It's less Boogie Nights and more Capote, which suited me just fine.

Dylan McDermott's hair and beard look very fake though. He doesn't do 'tough guy' well.

I actually preferred Wonderland to Boogie Nights; I did like that movie as well, they are two very different movies and yes they overlap around John Holmes and the Wonderland incident.

I would agree that Dylan was off, but Val Kilmer was extraordinary even with the bad make-up. I didn't think that Val Kilmer could pull off the role, but he did a great job the same as Salton Sea. I would recommend that anyone who likes the movie should watch the dvd with the commentary, documentary, and other special features.
