For me, I'd have to say it would be 'Canícula: Snapshots of a Girlhood En La Frontera' by Norma E. Cantu. Mainly because her memories remind me so much of the women I grew up with. Or maybe 'Borderlands' by Gloria Anzaldua.

Esther Garcia | 1 comments That's a good question. I feel like "Golondrina Why Did You Leave Me?" is so much about me. Geographically and linguistically, it's pocho like me. It's from here and also from there, and it's so lyrical. I'm not a poet, but I love poetry and that kind of sensibility. I feel like it's romantic and sexy and sad and lonely. It's a lot braver than I am, but it's the amount of bravery that I wish I was.
