My thoughts exactly!

She doesn't!? What is it with these people! ;) kidding, but seriously?

Danny my friend, you must re-educate them immediately! :)

It's not bad, but it's not good either. Sorry Tagg :)"

Same must be said for the sequel to Divergent.

Hunger Games not the best written, but entertainment wise and idea wise I like it a lot. As I understand it it's not the exact same thing as Battle Royale since BR is meant to be much more violent. I read a thread debating the differences and their conclusion was the authors probably arrived at a similar idea and then diverged in their own ways. It's not like what Shannara is to Rings, though I like that for it's badness :p I still don't see how you cannot like Lord of the Rings or Treasure Island... Gems of books.

I just didn't care for Insurgent because it seemed all the rules she made in Divergent were suddenly altered. Hey look, here's a bunch more Divergents. Hey look, let's come up with a heap of factionless people. I guess I didn't like the change in direction...

message 57: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Terrington (thewritestuff) | 390 comments It probably is better written in different ways...but Divergent was more unique. I like ideas over writing most of the time. When ideas meet writing that's when I love a book truly...

message 58: by Taggerung (new)

Taggerung | 142 comments Exactly! Which is why I think I love Hunger Games. The idea, not the writing. Although I liked the writing too, but it wasn't, you know, quality worthy comparing to CS Lewis or Tolkien.

Jonathan Terrington (thewritestuff) | 390 comments Or 1984 or Brave New World...

message 60: by Taggerung (new)

Taggerung | 142 comments Oooooh Brave New World is SO good because it shows how messed up the world is becoming, way back when it was written in like the forties or whatever.

message 61: by Taggerung (new)

Taggerung | 142 comments It's not juicy so much as eerily spot on as to what society is becoming.

message 62: by Taggerung (new)

Taggerung | 142 comments I enjoyed that one as well. :)

@ Tagg: I wasn't saying I liked the Hunger Games. I just threw that in there as the counterpart to Divergent.

@ Jonathan: It's nice to finally hear someone say anything negative about Divergent or Insurgent.

@ Emily: I know; I have strange sisters, lol.

Speaking of Superheroes, what would everyone rank as their top five. Here's mine in order.

1. Batman
2. Spiderman
3. X-men
4. Superman
5. Green Lantern

No one else said Green Lantern. That's sad. If you can just accept the fact that there's going to be a lot of aliens, it's pretty cool.

message 77: by Taggerung (new)

Taggerung | 142 comments I don't have a problem with aliens so much as I have a problem with mystical ancient aliens with a mystical ring. Green Lantern's pretty cool, but I'm just not as into inexplicable background stuff. I prefer "scientific" explanations.

Was the Green Lantern 2012 movie any good?I was going to see it, but I didn't end up going...

And I have not really got any knowledge about Green Lantern. So... :(

Oh, I thought it was this year. Musta been the end of 2011 then... Okay :) I don't really have time to watch all the things I want to watch, so it's not like I have time to watch other stuff either.... :)

Jonathan Terrington (thewritestuff) | 390 comments Hey, yeah it was bad but I've rewatched it a few times and my conclusion is that a) it wasn't the worst film I've ever seen b) Ryan Reynolds is a good pick for Hal Jordan in my mind. But they need better script writers and graphics work...

I still haven't seen it cause she watched it while I was doing homework :( I haven't been to eager to watch it because I've heard from sources more reliable than her it's supposed to be pretty bad.

Well I don't mind the guy so yeah...
And Hal Jordan's kind of meant to be a cocky arrogant bloke in the comics so I like that.
