Danine (dulcemea) They were just perfect for each other! Name a couple who didn't end up together in a book but you wish they would just hook up.

Thanks for this topic, Dini. I hope the question title brings many views :)

Mary Todd (marytodd) | 924 comments I have to laugh...there is a whole group on goodreads that talks ONLY about who should Sookie Stackhouse end up with.

For me, it's from Jonathan Stroud's Bartimaeus Trilogy: The Amulet of Samarkand, The Golem's Eye, Ptolemy's Gate. Nathaniel and Kitty should have ended together (death or alive, I don't care, just together!) Instead, it ended in a very painful way. Noble and heroic and beautiful *whatever* ... but painful.

Becca I was heartbroken and left sobbing when Gemma Doyle and Kartik did not end up together in Libba Bray's "The Far Sweet Thing". I spent the entire series hoping that would be the case and was heartbroken when it didn't happen.

message 5: by Laura (new)

Laura (questionableadvice) Well, this is an old one, but I was very disappointed that Walter Hartwright ended up with Laura Fairlie rather than her half-sister, Marian Halcombe, in The Woman in White. Laura was an incarnation of the basic pretty and helpless victorian heroine, while Marian was intelligent, witty and resourceful. Of course, she was also unattractive so that meant she was doomed to maiden-aunthood by any victorian novelist.

I haven't gotten far enough to know they don't end up together (I've heard some bad stuff happens.) Bummer....they should be together!

Tara (tara3117) | 22 comments The first two that came to mind were Garrett and Theresa in Message in a Bottle and John and Savannah in Dear John. I'm sure if I thought about it longer, I could come up with some that weren't at the hands of Nicholas Sparks!

I had been warned! My sister told me before I even got very far--when I predicted Gemma and Kartik!

Her German husband is quite sweet but sometimes I still wonder what Laurie and Jo would have been like! In the later books (Little Men and Jo's Boys) Jo and her hubby make sense together, but to begin with I was not keen on Laurie and Amy!

Mrsku | 37 comments Because I've read them recently I think that Lyra and Will from Philip Pullmans Northern Lights books should have been together. I know they were kids but I wept like a baby when it ended with them apart.
