Also, I love Locke. I love him to bits!

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments I started Illicit Magic (Stella Mayweather, #1) by Camilla Chafer today in line at Starbucks. Clearly I haven't been able to get very far, but I like it. At first the writing seemed stilted, but after a few pages I got used it. I was suprised by how quickly I got drawn in.

Allison | 11 comments I just finished Remy (Real, #3) by Katy Evans by Katy Evans. It was the third book in the series, and basically tells the first two books, Real (Real, #1) by Katy Evans & Mine (Real, #2) by Katy Evans , from the guys point of view. I have to say that this is one of my favorite new series, and I loved seeing this from his point of view. I also just read Bad Things (Tristan & Danika, #1) by R.K. Lilley & Rock Bottom (Tristan & Danika, #2) by R.K. Lilley by R.K. Lilley, which I really liked as well. Lots of angst, but I am waiting on pins and needles to see how the story is finally resolved when the third book comes out next year. Hopefully early next year *fingers crossed*. This series is a spinoff series from the Up in the Air Series, In Flight (Up In The Air, #1) by R.K. Lilley , Mile High (Up In The Air, #2) by R.K. Lilley , & Grounded (Up In The Air, #3) by R.K. Lilley , and tells the back story of Tristan and Danika that was alluded too in in that series. The third one is supposed to be the resolution to it all I think, so if you don't like reading books like that until all the situation is resolved, you may want to wait for the third one to come out. Lord knows that was my plan until I reread the Up in the Air series, saw that the 2nd one came out on Tuesday, and decided I couldn't wait any longer. Neither series is anything but romance, but I sincerely loved them both. So, if you like books in other genres besides Urban Fantasy or Paranormal Romance, you may want to give them a try.

I added his blog and his Tumblr to my RSS feeds, but I haven't really looked back at older posts much. I'll need to check that out.

That food blog is awesome! I love it when people attempt to make dishes from their favourite books. There's a site "Inn at the Crossroads" that does recipes from Song of Ice and Fire. I've never had the courage to try any from there, though. Scott Lynch's dishes sound a little simpler!

I'm now starting a BOM in another group. Shadow and Bone Shadow and Bone (The Grisha, #1) by Leigh Bardugo . I have mixed feelings about this one. I don't think I would be reading it if it weren't BOM, as it's possibly too YA for my tastes. But, hopefully, I'll be proved wrong.

I wonder what you will think of it. I always thought it had an interesting concept.. but the YA part kept me away.

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments I've read about 50% of Shadow and Bone and I'm not feeling the love. It's epic fantasy, yet it still manages to work in the equivalent of high school bitchiness.

It might get better in the second half but I'm not optimistic. I think if you don't mind YA, it probably wouldn't be that bad, but it's not doing it for me.

I finished Shadow and Bone and, while there were a couple of good scenes near the end, I'm a bit meh about it. My dislike of YA is clearly influencing my opinion, though. I think if you enjoy YA books, it's probably not the worst thing out there. It was too simplistic for my tastes.

Zeenat, welcome back!! Missed you. Hope things are settling down for you. :)

#@!% to cliff hangers
The first book of the series was a freebie on Itunes and it it was okay, but I wasn’t gonna pay that much for the 2nd book. Well, it went on sale for $1.99 … seriously?! So I grabbed it. Wtf the end sucked and made me weepy, that is a rarerare thing, and to read the resolution I gotta read the next book?! Pffft @ that.

@lannister:
I read that book too and agree it would appeal to YA fans…. I liked it, but I am not frothing at the mouth to read the Seige and Storm, or the short in between them. You would think fantasy world = no stupid “cool kids” crap, but no. :/

So many books to read, some that I have been waiting on, and no ompfh to read them. I think I may be sick or something. *cough cough*

Arushi | 3652 comments So I have been on a re reading binge. I reread more than half of the IAD series because I read Macrieve. Then I just reread most of the Rock Chick series to celebrate reading Rock Chick Revolution, which is a conclusion of the Rock Chick series.

It does end with BROAD hints that more books are in the offing - they'll just be set in LA with a different cast of characters - and some visits from the Denver people. I am looking forward to it, because I have a feeling the first book is Darius and he is hilarious. Totally.

The only consolation I can offer is that Masks will hopefully probably be out this month, though I would doubt if Pritkin will be in that story. Sigh, hopefully Reap the Wind will be the first half of 2014.

I will say, from what I have read, that the set up so far is interesting and makes me want to continue. I think there are three POVs(?) so I'm curious to see where it goes.

Will update after I've read some more. I'm hoping to read a chunk tonight, as I plan a quiet night in since we've had horrendous storms all day today.

I swear CS’s books are like crack …. I stayed up late finishing the series last night. I didn’t think I could hate characters more in a series, but hey!, I did in this one. Omg @ characters I previously liked or thought a little stupid in the last series changing enough for me to “omg h8u wanna cut a bitch”. I pretty much dislike the entire race of high demons and Kifirin. (teehee @ him reaping what he sowed so to speak.)
Especially Tory, his dad, and well Rea’s whole side of the family. Big wtf @ them.

message 3940: by Llaph (last edited Dec 08, 2013 06:02PM) (new)

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments @Arushi:

It is a part of a series. I mean characters from the previous two stories show up in it and it is set in the same universe.
It goes like this:
Blood Destiny series (10)
High Demon )6)
Legend of the Ir'Indicti (5) it is YA’ish thought he does A LOT of growing up in the last 2 books
and the current series
God Wars (4)

Yes it is a lot of books, but they are like crack … really addicting to finish the next one right after you finish the current one. It doesn’t help that she has a tendancy to end with a big ass cliff hanger a lot of the time. That is one reason I got and read them a series at a go. I read the YA one 2 nd, I guess the publication dates mesh with the High Demon series, Zeenat read them in order of pub.
There are a lot of WTF??? moments, where I couldn’t believe that that had happened…. It is hard to explain, I am sure Margo could gush better about them. : P Zeenat read them too but she is too busy to grace us with her presence ... she is busy incubating a little spawn.

message 3941: by Zeenat (new)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 6376 comments It is like incubating an alien spawn... sapping my energy... and it had a tail for awhile :P The Connie Suttle books are fast. They aren't super great... but they read really fast. I will get back to them... soon! lol

Read Kicking It (JY world story was awesome, even chloe neill's story was pretty good. Much bigger fan of Luc than Ethan lol)
Dangerous Women (Just the DF world book, From Molly Carpenter's POV. Is it weird to say I could totally tell a man wrote this story from a female POV lol)
The Spider Just finished... Review later today.

Still need to finish the reread of For a Few Demons More and start The Outlaw Demon Wails

Reading Little White Lies.

To be fair I also read a few pregnancy books :P but I can't put them on my official read list just in case my real life friends who don't know yet go check it out lol

message 3942: by Lannister (new)

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments Hmmm how do you know what it's like to incubate an alien spawn? Is there something you haven't told us? Cos I have to say, if it involves hot demon sex I'm totally cool with it. ;)

message 3943: by Llaph (new)

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments Oh my! My virgin ears!

Finished:
Demon Hunting in Dixie (Demon Hunting, #1) by Lexi George,
I could barely finish this book … I think it would be a good book for someone who likes Mary Janice Davidson or Angie Fox. It was just … too … silly and wtf to me. Plus, the plot just, like, died halfway through and I got bored. Hot guy, nifty interactions, demons, okay! Then it just turned into a “greet the townsfolk” time until the last few chapters when it got exciting again. Plus, the BG (that you only really meet/talk to in the book a few times and you hardly get any scarymofo vibes from him) dies in like 2 seconds or something … way too freaking easy.

Silent Blade (Kinsmen, #1) by Ilona Andrews and
Silver Shark (Kinsmen, #2) by Ilona Andrews

I really enjoyed these two novellas (or whatever they are called ~100 pages or so) and wish there were more set in that world. Of course it is probably because they are sci-fi and I like me some sci-fi.

Off to read Little House on the Prairie
