I just follow the DH numbering, it's really the only one that makes sense.

I know I'm very critical, especially towards the female characters, but she is one of the worst. The things she did to him and let others do to him and he just forgives her like that... I hate it! Then add to it that it's a short story which makes it even more difficult to create a connection and good love story and you have a mess. I know Fury is a very popular character and he deserved so much better.

When I started reading the DHs, I got a list with all the books and short stories and that's the one I stick to.

I did not know about GR when I started the series so I went by the order I got off of wiki for her page. Ireally do not pay attention to all of those classifications, just gimme the order to read them all together and I am fine.
I just finished Ill Wind by Rachel caine … I think I have been conditioned to think characters who call the FMC chica are scary. I was instantly reminded of The Laughing corpse by Laurell K. Hamilton. Dominga Salvador scared … the … crap … outta … me. Some people are scared of snakes or spiders … me I am scared of zombies.True story
I am thinking of reading the 2nd book in the weather warden series or a game of thrones, it has been a while since I read a nice fantasy-type book. Last was the omen machine by terry goodkind.

It was too short I agree, people should have gotten in a lot more trouble. I would have kicked her ass to the curb ... that fated mate crap is crap most of the time. Especially when you have morons like her ...
savitar should have smited her
I forget what it is called, but not knowing does not excuse what she did or helped with.
(I am procrastinating, I should be doing laundry, shh)
I haven't read the Weather Warden series from Rachel Caine but Game of Throne is really worth your time. I'm started to listen to The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss and i adore it so far, granted I'm only 12% done.
Zeenat wrote: "Oh and if they make Barrons into some 22 year old boy I'm gonna be pissed. LOL"Barrons would have to be older!!!!
@Sarah I think I'd heard that DH was being turned into a series. I hadn't heard about the Were-Hunters getting an anime, though. I'll be super critical of all of the actors they get to play those characters, I'm sure.I did know that Fever was getting movies. I'd heard about it around the time I finished reading the books.
Okay, I just finished
and I really liked it. Zarek reminds me a lot of Zsadist and his book was absolutely amazing, too. I really liked that SK toned down her ridiculous descriptions of people's feelings. I could believe Zarek and Astrid's storyline. I also love Simi and Acheron. I'm really curious about where that storyline leads.@Zeenat I find the numbering to be very confusing. I don't really like short stories all that much...I tend to skip them and just read the full length novels
I'm so glad you really enjoyed Zarek's book, Claire. I really think it's one of the best in the series. And Simi and Ash rock.
Because they call him "Ash" I'm guessing that Acheron is pronounced like "Asheron." But isn't the "ch" sound a hard sound for Greek names? Like "Charon" is "cair-on" instead of "sharon?"
Claire wrote: "Because they call him "Ash" I'm guessing that Acheron is pronounced like "Asheron." But isn't the "ch" sound a hard sound for Greek names? I can only go on what I remember hearing in the books and the digital talking books I can get to listen to.
I think that the pronounciation of his name is talked about in Acheron, but I am good at forgetting sometimes. I think it is around where a nickname is talked about for him. I wont reveal anything about the book cept that, it does not really spoil something.
It's just interesting that they picked Ash for a nickname. Unless Ash is referring to something other than his name.
Acheron is pronounced Ack-uh-ron. He got nicknamed Ash because people pronounced it wrong and kept calling him Asherson. I think he got tired of correcting people 11,000 years ago and just let it go. Few people say his name correctly.I think it was Nick who explained this at some point. I don't remember what book it happened in. It was mostly an offhand observation kind of thing.
Zeenat wrote: "Oh and if they make Barrons into some 22 year old boy I'm gonna be pissed. LOL"More Edward Cullen-y angst? I think the Fever fans would go batshit crazy!!
@Sarah & Val - I know! Plus all the characters pop up everywhere.. so its not like anything is exclusive. Ash pretty much runs EVERYTHING. Poor guy.
@Llaph - I love the Weather Warden Series. I also really love A song of ice and fire, but don't give up on the weather warden, even if you go for Game of Thrones now.
Btw, for some reason I cannot see recent updates.. so I keep replying to old msgs. So... I am gonna go for a while and hope that GR fixes itself.
I think that a lot about ash and his name are said in his book, I am keeping myself from reading it again. :P
Llaph wrote: "I think that a lot about ash and his name are said in his book, I am keeping myself from reading it again. :P"Ha! someone else is interested in a re-read!!!
Okay I am decided. I will do a DH re-read.
If guys want quotes, and thoughts/synopsis/info on all the books, please lemme know? Lets see if I can make (please make one for me Lannie!!!!) thread for DH (AND everything in that universe).
OK, I made a thread just for you Arushi! :)I've never read these books and don't really know anything about them, but go ahead and discuss!
@arushiI got distracted … I went down my list of books in my reader and heard “S. McGuire” and did a “ohhh I did not finish that” so the shiny got me. I only have 2 books in that series that I can read (October Day) and I read the Discount Armageddon book since it was in the list. I rather liked it even though the heroine made me want to slap her sometimes. Its premise is rather interesting, I mean ballroom dancing, weird thing for a kick-ass to have in her repertoire.
I read the DH series last month, I was going to wait till Dark Bites came out, since it has all of the short stories in it I was just going to do a marathon re-read. You are so tempting me though …
I might get back to the storm warden series, I stopped around 10% through Heat Stroke, it has not clicked for me yet. Jo sort of is annoying at times to me. Probably because the only thing I can relate to is the car obsession … the other stuff I just wanna call her a ho-bag and wonder wtf crack David is smoking.
Like I have mentioned before I read stupid fast, I also tend to read more than one book at a time sometimes. If I start DH again though, I will get sucked into it and not want to read anything else … I think I am on my 4th re-read of it, only Kate Daniels, IMD, and Viking II come close to it with 4, 5, or 6 times at reading them.
I need to start school sometime …
I'm glad you liked Zarek's story, Claire. It's definitely one of the best DH books.
What's IMD, Llaph?
What's IMD, Llaph?
I'm looking forward to discovering the rest of the series@Mello It makes me proud that I got it right! lol
I don't remember how long it took me to get that. I was always pronouncing his name correctly, but I couldn't think of where they were getting Ash from.
Lannister wrote: "OK, I made a thread just for you Arushi! :)I've never read these books and don't really know anything about them, but go ahead and discuss!"
Awwww thank you :) I'll try and see that I don't give away major spoiler in the thread.. so you can come check it out too (along with everyone else who hasn't read the DH books). I'll just share the LOL moments..
@Llaph - I'll leave it to you, what you decide :)
@ sarah Immortals after dark by kresley cole, good chance I messed it up some how since I go by what I hear and am too lazy to check the actual letter sometimes. I did not think I would like it atfirst, it leans a lot towards romancy stuff,, but I really like the world and story. The books while having a different couple in each tend to take place on top of each other. It is hard to describe ... like book 4 makes mention of something happening and not solved yet in book 1 but in that book it has been.Reading gena showalter led me to look at her books.
I'm going to start book 6 today. My yoga class keeps getting cancelled so I have a whole extra hour in which to read!
I read the IAD series for the Nix moments....kidding. I was rooting for her to end up with Lothaire....now I wonder.
I wonder if Nix will get her own book or not.. I mean.. Lothaire would have been the only one who might have had a chance. I think the main plot will have a lot to do with her. She is completely playing this Accession after all. Its only going to be her supporters/friends/allies who'll come out alive through it. I love her Bat :D
I just finished
. It was pretty good--if you are ever in the mood for a cross cultural, coming of age story--this is a good one. Definitely one I can identify a lot with. This weekend is about: rereading
,
,
.Reading new:
,
, and
Six books? Go!
I need to start that series soon. I have all of the books and have had them for ages. I really should read them.
I'm definitely considering reading a Game of Thrones. But I started the DH series, Kara Gillian comes out, so I think does Abby Sinclair, and I'm going to do the October Daye read.
I don’t think Nyx will get her own book, she is too much a demi-god in training character. It is even mentioned in passing and she has referred to herself as the proto-valkerie.I thought she would get with Lothaire at first too, but after a few books I started my demi-god thinking.
I like her bat too, I also like how Mike Rowe was her sweety for a while and turned stalker … lol
Claire wrote: "I'm definitely considering reading a Game of Thrones. But I started the DH series, Kara Gillian comes out, so I think does Abby Sinclair, and I'm going to do the October Daye read."LOL that sounds worse than me ;)

Thanks. I only know it abbreviated as IAD.

Did you notice that she made a cameo appearance in the Lords of the Underworld? It was really funny but there is no series cross-over planned. :(
Zeenat wrote: "Six books? Go! "That should take you through to the weekend then LOL!
Am looking forward to hearing what you think of A Game of Thrones. We have a thread for A Song of Ice and Fire so share your thoughts there.
*wanders off thinking about evil Jaime*
@ sarahsorry for being a dork
@val
I noticed, did you know there is a reffrence in the alien huntress series to iad too?
Makes sense since they are both good friends.
Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ wrote: "Did you notice that she made a cameo appearance in the Lords of the Underworld? It was really funny but there is no series cross-over planned. :( "I did notice.. I remember Torin saw her on the cameras.. she waved and he was weirdly attracted to her pointy ears. It was kinda cute...
but yeah.. there are no crossovers planned. Oh well.. I think the valkyries would get on famously with the Lords.. but most of them are taken now.. unfortunately.
@Llaph - You're right. Nix probably won't get her own book and its okay. I don't know how well I'll be able to deal with her turning into a sap, who'd think of someone (other than her sisters) as more than a valuable chess piece.
@Lannister - Having a blast with Jaime?
reading An Artificial Night and lamenting the fact my library does not have the rest of the series yet. My luck stuff gets good after that book ...
@arushishe is already treating people as chess pieces, look at all of the characters and see where she has manipulated them. Even having done so way back in the past. (hi lothaire)

I love Lothaire's and her history.

It was pronounced Ack-er-ron but he did not want anyone to use the nickname ack-ee-poo so let people pronounce it Ash-er-ron.
