Okay. Let me just say, I totally understand why he didn't tell Kylie about the marriage, what pisses me off though is the fact that (well, at least from Kylie's point of view) he was so into it.I do want Derek to be happy, but I just can't see it happening with Kylie.
Ugh I'm really flipping frustrated right now but I'm still Team Lucas.
(PS I get really frustrated as Teen Wolf fan, because there's a werewolf named Derek that looks JUST like Lucas, but then there's Derek the fae and I get them mixed up really easily)
This is so complicated! I feel like Lucas is just lying, cheating, and being so mean to Kylie! I completely understand his whole wolf thing but the marriage was just to much! I was so mad!! He seems to think that she will be completely okay with this but, as Holiday said you can't expect someone to wait. I think Lucas is just wrong for not telling Kylie! Then theres Derek, sweet innocent Derek. He is just always there for Kylie and is a better friend when Lucas isn't around and then Lucas thinks we can just march up and get mad at Derek. NO! Just no. Derek is so sweet to Kylie. He would make a much better, more reliable boyfriend. But, hey! If Kylie likes the bad boys then so be it I guess. I still think Derek is way better. Team Derek all the way!
I'm so torn between Lucas and Derek.I love both of them so much.
At first i was team Lucas, then Derek, then Lucas.
I was so frustrated and angry at Lucas at what he did!!
I don't know who Kylie will choose, but i'll be happy with either of them. Cant wait for the next book!
PEOPLE WHO ARE MAD AT LUCAS CALM DOWN AND THINK FOR A MOMENT! He loved Kylie not the she-wolf he married and he will always love Kylie always! yes what he did was wrong but he had to to do it to get into council and be with Kylie it was basically for her and i'm pretty sure the only one he really ever wanted to marry was her. Just Kylie no one else! NO ONE ELSE! please think about it i was like u people til i thought hard enough to realize she belongs with him they are perfect! <3 TEAM LUCAS!
As much as I like Derek, I have to go with Lucas on this one. Derek is a great guy and I wouldn't be super upset if he and Kylie ended up together, but I really think her soulmate is Lucas. I know that Kylie thinks he chose his pack over her, but to me he chose trying to help those kids who are branded bad because of their parents choices. He loves Kylie and told her that (even if she does see it as "too late") and she loves him. I know in her heart that she loves Derek as well, but I feel like Lucas is "the one" for her. They have a connection that goes back to their childhood and despite loving each other they both need to complete their quests so they can be together. I think if she goes with Derek it would be like saying the bad guy wins (Lucas' father and the Council, not Derek). I think that if Kylie and Lucas do come together not only will they be changing the discrimination on the kids that were born to rouge parents, but prejudices between species. They would face a ton of obstacles, but if they can get strong on their own they can be powerful together. Derek deserves happiness, but if he gets with Kylie I don't think he will have it because, to me, her heart will always be with Lucas.
I think Lucas needs her more. He’s the character that has flaws. With everyone saying Derek is perfect and stuff, there’s nothing in him that Kylie could inspire in him to be better. With Lucas in whispers at moonrise he said he wanted to change because of her, and he told her not to give up on him. He was even like “ have you ever known the right thing to do, but couldn’t do it? It’s good she left cuz now it will give him the push he needs to know that he will do anything to be with Kylie and make that right decision. He’s been thinking about her for eleven years, and some people say that doesn’t mean anything, but it does. He needs to be cured from being brainwashed by his stupid pack. I know he will get his chance to prove himself in the last book. Derek’s a nice guy and all, but Kylie and Lucas belong to each other. They will fight it together. They both of obstacles to accomplish in this next book and then hopefully they can be together.

i wanted to rip him apart! but... i just mostly feel sorry for Kylie because this made her realize that she needs to be with her family, leaving those she loves the most behind at Shadow Falls.

I hate what Lucas did and I want to be on Team Derek but i just cant. I love Kylie and Lucas as a couple to much. They are just meant to be reading the books you get the feeling deep in the gut saying they will end up together in the end. I like Derek he is sweet and caring and he is good with/for Kylie and accepts her but i just don't get the gut its meant to be together feeling.

hi there. i haven't read any of the nooks yet but i want to. but i'm going to wait for the last book to come out. just wanted to know, even if the heroine chooses lucas which will be seriously cliche for me, are the books worth it? can anybody please pursuade me to read this series? thanks :)

Even just the supernatural element of the books, it's like nothing I've ever read before. There's a mystery in almost every book in this series. Kylie, the heroine, is likable and easy to relate to. There's other romances besides Kylie's that gets you invested. All the characters are well rounded and the friendships that are developed suck you into the story too. As for Kylie's love triangle whoever you "root" for I don't think by the end of the current book (last one coming soon!!) you will be upset. There are things that I love and hate about both guys and I think that each relationship is very well developed so it can be hard to choose.
So basically if you enjoy reading about love, friendship, pain, strength, mystery, supernatural, and stories that leave you wanting more than most definitely read this series.

I hate myself for starting this (or really any) series when it's still in progress. I managed not to read the Vampire Academy books until they were all releast, but now I'm stuck waiting for the spin off (Bloodlines) to continue. It's slow and painful :(
Team Lucas! I think what Lucas did was wrong I mean he could have gave Kylie a heads up even if it would hurt her. I honestly think and hope Kylie is going to get back with Lucas. Derek seems kind and cute but I can see the chemistry Lucas and Kylie have. Anyway I really do hope Kylie and Lucas end up together I mean isn't that what relationships are about;we go through troubles and fights but in the end up we make up because that's what love is. its not always perfect.

I agree with you till some extent though I still am a huge Derek fan. It's jus that even though as you said C Hunter might've purposly lead us to believe that Lucas is messed up for having a botheral with Monique yet he should'nt have done it behind her back. Still it was impressive how CC Hunter added Jenny and lead us to believe that Derek and Jenny have a future together because you have to admit Derek is way better. Even though Lucas had to do everything he had to do to make sure that he makes it on the Council and save the future werewolves from marrying another were that he or she doesn't feel for.
I read the ending first to see if she picked the guy that I wanted her to pick (she didn't) so not reading the book.
I'm happy with the ending. I would've been cool with the other way, but I think CC Hunter did a great job with it. Now I want to read about Della and Steve. They were sexy ;).

I was always torn between the two of them... Neither lucas or derek had any winning qualities really, to me at least. I think I'd go with derek though.

Since you love spoilers (I do too, but only for tv shows cause I'm weird like that lol) I'll tell you a few things:
1. It's Lucas
2. Lucas never signed something to make the engagement official so it technically never happened
3. That Monique chick was happy it never happened because she didn't want Lucas either
4. Kylie and Derek are happy being friends because he develops feelings for someone else
5. Lucas works hard for Kylie's forgivness

Now if you want to hold off on read this series that's fine. I liked it a lot, but it's not one of my favs. You should definitely read it though.

Yay!! Thanks for taking the time to write such a big, helpful answer!! I'll definitely read the series but save it for a rainy day...bacause it's rainy season where I live. Yes, we have one season out of 6 dedicated to rain...and I have my exams now. So i'll be reading it in June and hopefully I'll be able to rant with sense then. bye for now :)

OMG! I totally agree (: I got sooo mad! I had a horrible head ache, that's how mad I was... I totally agree he was a total a** but in chosen at nightfall I fell in love with him again, I never thought not even in the beginning that Kylie and Derek would end up together, basically because I knew how many books there were and how in the first book it mentioned Lucas. So I always thought Lucas was going to end up with Kylie. I was right (: lol! I'm very proud he didn't sign the papers and get fully engaged, even though it was because of Kylie... This series was sooo good though (:
Okay NO one is Perfect you all need to give Lucas a chance here. Yes Derek is Super sweet BUT he is just not the right one for Kaylie Sorry. Lucas can and Will redeem himself I know it and as for Derek well he will find a Very special girl who likes him back as much as he likes her ;-)

He half assed half of his apologies towards her and when Kylie did relent, he pranced around like a god damn peacock. When I say "rape culture" that can imply a lot of stuff. That includes men touching you without your permission, cat calling (and saying 'LEARN TO TAKE A COMPLIMENT' if you don't respond well to having your tits ogled at.) Rape culture is very subtle and happens without even being meant, because it's that ingrown in our society. A man thinks that by saying you have a nice ass, he's doing you a favor! He's grown up with that concept. He may think its alright to touch you on your leg, or even your ass, because he's seen it in movies or tv shows.
Kylie ain't a great heroine either. Sure, she may be able to fight, and you may think she's a great friend, but she's not. Kylie is an obvious slut shamer. Hunter makes avid attempts to let readers know you can never have sex ever unless your married and your really bad if you ever indulge yourself!! Kylie's poor libido is ping ponged around by both boys and yet she never allows herself to fully enjoy herself. She constantly belittles herself when she does think quote
"naughty thoughts." and yet it's totally acceptable (at least in the term of BOYYYYSSSS) for Lucas and Derek to be horn dogs.
That's a gender stereotype right there, which does nothing for girls or boys. A girl's sexuality should be embraced- whether she decides to be chaste OR a virgin. Kylie's constant triade against those who do have sex never helps her case there. Being a virgin doesn't make you better (looking at YOU T-Swift.) Nor does saying boys having sex is the societal norm help teenage girl readers instead. Then they'll think either: "Welp, I'm going to have to save myself, but Johnny's allowed to have all the sex he wants because he's a man!! That's okay!" or they'll think that boy's WITHOUT experience may not be worth their time.
Promise Rings are all fine and dandy, but for me it just felt like the final nail being hammered in by Hunter. It implies settling down, accepting what you've been giving, and not... expanding your horizons. They're TEENAGERS. And sure, they're so in "LOOOOVE" and will be in Della's series (I'm sure), but in real life... it doesn't happen that easy. Even /with/ high school sweet hearts (real life example, a couple from my school that dated almost all of HS, they were great friends the first two years and then finally said let's date, they were SUPER SERIOUS, and half way through college they started seeing other people.) You do not need to be tied down to anybody. You're allowed to enjoy each other's time and each other as well, but there's no need to think that I'm going to be with this person for the REST of my life.
Forgive me for the long winded explanation and social justice complex. I have nothing against Burnett and Perry in these books. Steve was too... well, in the background for me to have an opinion on him (and I haven't read the e-books.) But Lucas and Derek just... ARGH. I loved Lucas up to the last book, and I hate that Hunter made me hate him.
I think you're reading way too much into it! And there's nothing wrong with "being tied down to someone for the rest if your life!" I think you're putting your life experiences into the book. As far the sex thing it may not be right for boys to sleep around but that's how they've always been and it won't change, wrong or right! As far as him touching her leg without permission what harm is that?? He never grabbed her ass or touched her inappropriately. You are just hostile ..... Love hurts period!
A boy touches your leg. It's an inconvenience but you do not comment on it. Therefore the boy thinks that he can touch more. When you DO voice your concerns and discomfort, they get angry and say that you weren't complaining before! Why are you such a prude now? Now the boy thinks he can touch whoever he wants, whenever. And why? BECAUSE HE'S A BOY. That's why it's bullshit excusing little boys to pulling a girl's hair, because of their gender. Mean spiritedness becomes acceptable. And at sixteen/seventeen, saying that you've found the love of your life is ridiculously unbelievable (unless said characters are soul mates and/or have met in previous lives)

First of all, I am a big Team Lucas fan. I posted on C C Hunter’s website how I think Kylie would end up with Lucas and I still think she will even if I was a Team Derek fan. If Kylie and Derek end up together, wouldn’t that mean Lucas’s pack and father wins I mean it would seem kind of sad and disappointing. And plus Derek admitted that he loved Kylie, and she’s still torn between Lucas and Derek. And she hasn’t said anything back to him. Doesn’t that mean something? I feel that if it was Lucas who said he loved Kylie, she would dump Derek. I also feel that Lucas can’t say he loves Kylie yet because he’s still confused. I mean he kept saying things throughout the book, and look what happened, but I can’t see the story with Lucas just ending up with that other girl, and he chooses his pack and that’s it. That’s a pretty sucky ending.
I know everyone thinks Lucas is an a** right now, but can you guys see the story just ending like that? I’m still in shock about what Lucas did, but the story would seem unfinished if he just chooses his pack and leaves Kylie. I don’t know plot wise I can’t see it happening. I have a feeling C C Hunter did this on purpose, to make readers think Lucas was a total a**, and she makes up for it in the last book, cuz I doubt she will let readers keep hating on Lucas, but I don’t know. And that other girl maybe Lucas and her have some sort of plan , like it’s all fake maybe that’s why he kept it from Kylie. I don’t really know what do you guys think is going to happen? And say honestly who you think she will end up with, not who you want her to end up with.
