Js700 | 99 comments Could be For Darkness Shows the Stars. It was recently published, loosely based on Emma, but a fantastic modern retelling.

I thought it was based on Persuasion...

ETA: I guess not as this book is MUCH older than 2005.

HJ The Importance of Being Emma by Juliet Archer? YA published in 2008.

Krystal (00Krystal) | 132 comments For Darkness Shows the Stars is definitely based on Persuasion, not Emma.

Maybe Amanda by Debra White Smith? Not sure if it's YA, but it was published in 2006. It is set is Australia, if that rings any bells.

It's a retelling of Sense & Sensibility, not Emma, but I'm going to throw The Dashwood Sisters' Secrets of Love out there anyway. Published in 2005, set in England, modern times.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 141 comments Is the main character named Emma? Emmaline? Em? Something similar? Is it actually supposed to be a retelling, or does the story just remind you of Emma?

Just fishing for some more info so maybe we can figure this out!
