YES!!!!!!!

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book I love any movie with Bing Crosby in it :-)

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

A while ago I watched An Affair to Remember, and loved it. I need to start watching more older movies. My godmother always says they don't make actors today like they did in her day.

message 14: by Kim-Lost-In-A-Book (last edited Feb 26, 2013 11:07AM) (new)

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book That's a good one, Carlin. I agree with your godmother a lot. There are some today that are more like "silver screen" actors, or what I would call "old Hollywood" with class and such, but for the most part I think she's right.

One of my favorites is "Sabrina". The original with Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart and William Holden is my favorite. However, the remake with Harrison Ford, Julia Ormond and Greg Kinnear isn't terrible.

I like the one with Harrison Ford better. :)

message 16: by Anne (new)

Anne (cinderella16) | 55 comments Oh, I absolutely love Sabrina with Audrey Hepburn. I want to own it so bad.

Here are a few more that I don't think anyone has mentioned:

The Time of Their Lives (Abbott and Costello)
The Glass Bottom Boat (Doris Day)
The Princess and the Pirate (Bob Hope)
Cassanova's Big Night (Bob Hope)
The "Road To" movies (Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour)
Tammy and the Bachelor (Debbie Reynolds)

Keeping to my reputation .... ;) Pride and Prejudice 1940 is black and white but great!

That's one of my absolute favorites! ;)

@Hannah - I've watched most of the ones you listed & loved nearly every one of them! :) "Penny Serenade" was not one of my favorites, though... :/

message 22: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 215 comments The ending was so sweet, though. Their second chance together and as parents was really heartwarming.

message 29: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 215 comments I also loved "Holiday" with Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn. I recently got "Affair to Remember" and want to watch it soon, especially as it figured in one I really enjoyed at my sister's last fall..."Sleepless in Seattle".

message 30: by Anne (new)

Anne (cinderella16) | 55 comments Affair to Remember is a really good one. The theme to it is beautiful. Anyone a fan of Arsenic and Old Lace?

message 37: by Anne (new)

Anne (cinderella16) | 55 comments Don't worry....I haven't either ;)

I've only seen Humphrey Bogart in two movies, Sabrina and We're No Angels. Has anyone seen that one? It's really funny.

Aerykah | 2071 comments Anne wrote: "...Anyone a fan of Arsenic and Old Lace?"

I LOVE Arsenic & Old Lace!!! :D It's probably my most favorite b&w movie ever!! ;)

message 40: by Aerykah (last edited Mar 01, 2013 06:08PM) (new)

Aerykah | 2071 comments I like Ingrid Bergman & Humphrey Bogart, but I didn't really like Casablanca...

@Anne- You really should watch some of the movies Humphrey Bogart did with Lauren Bacall -- To Have And Have Not, The Big Sleep, Key Largo, & Dark Passage. They're all good! :)

message 41: by Anne (new)

Anne (cinderella16) | 55 comments It's funny, I like Bogart, but the only two movies I've seen him in are 'funny' ones. He doesn't play his 'normal' character. I'll have to check some of those movies out.

You were talking about Ingrid Bergman...Gaslight anyone? I've never gotten to see that one all the way through. I always catch it at the same spot and watch the ending. (That part of it's good though.) :)

message 42: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 215 comments I saw the original English version of "Gaslight" this summer and really enjoyed it. I don't know how to find it, though...it was on TCM while we were at my grandmother's in Texas.

I'm not sure about everyone else here, but my definition of an "old" movie is probably anything made before 1960-70. :)

Nicole | 406 comments I love the old musicals as well!
