Steve Rogers | 2 comments I read a book in the Mid-80's where the premise was an oil drilling crew member had his crew massacred by Viet-Cong in Pre-American involvment of Vietman War. He is recruited by CIA? and becomes leader of a covert team during Vietnam War. Book ends with lead charater being directed down "secret" entrance to White House with instruction/direction to assasinate the President of the United States

Do you think it was by someone well known, or obscure?

Steve Rogers | 2 comments Probably obscure. If it is from a more well known author, it will be an early work. I have looked in library databases for so many years I have lost track. Countless bookstores and second hand bookstores.

Just a guess - "Executive Action" by Donald Freed and Mark Lane?

Can't find a description of "The Carlos Confessions" - a story about JFK, the CIA and assassins.
