The Hunger Games trilogy > Dystopian novels are usually a reflection of the real world. How do you see modern-day U.S. reflected in this series. Be specific.

Javi González (goodreadscomjavigonzalez) | 5 comments In The Hunger Games, dystopia is represented by the destruction of the United States. So maybe the author wrote about it, so that we can think better of what we're doing, and if we're doing the right thing or the wrong. Maybe what we should change as a country, or what to improve. It make us reflect how we can end up like if we keep doing the things we do without thinking about them...

Javi ~ very perceptive. On page 18, Katniss says, "He lists the disasters, the droughts, the storms, the fires, the encroaching seas that swallowed up so much of the land, the brutal war for what little sustenance remained." It makes me wonder if the author is talking about pollution, global warming, and the destruction we do to our environment.

You wrote, "The authors thinks using a dystopia is the best way to tell people what we did." I agree. I think dystopias always make us reflect on how we are living and reflect on whether or not this world could be a possibility for us. It forces us to ask, "How are we similar?"
