Similar to me then!!
Yes! Greer Garson was great! As was Elizabeth Garvie (can't really remember her name) in the 1980 one was great. :)

message 11: by Marren (new)

Marren | 764 comments Mr. Darcy: Matthews...hmmmmm

Mr. Knightly: John Lee Miller

I cannot remember the names of the others :D but I can see their faces in my head :P

Ms Eliza: Keira Knightly
Ms Emma: the 09 version Romala (she acted this very very well)
I cannot remember the names of the other heroines, just their faces. I am not good with remembering names unless I can link them to something common in my life or I always see them on the screen.

You are a Firth supporter then ;)

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Definitely. Are you a Firth supporter?

message 19: by Sophie, Your Lovely Moderator (new)

Sophie | 2624 comments Mod
I don't know. I love them both! My views change. I think at the moment yeah - but I watched that one last!

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

I just didn't feel Darcy coming from Macfayden.

message 21: by Sophie, Your Lovely Moderator (new)

Sophie | 2624 comments Mod
I did.
I felt more of the pride side coming from Firth and the Shy side coming from MacFadyen. :)

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, in the beginning he's proud.

Nothing beats the book, unfortunately.

message 23: by Sophie, Your Lovely Moderator (new)

Sophie | 2624 comments Mod
That's true!

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Sorry, but the book is always sorry, correction: usually better than the movie.

True!

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

I know this is a bit random but is that not the best bedroom ever?????

message 27: by Anna (new)

Anna (SylviaGrant) | 139 comments I would live there forever!

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

My mother would never see me...

message 33: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca May | 561 comments The bedroom is all right - of course I would absolutely love it. But for one thing - it's screaming "TIDY ME!!!". Well, to me it is anyway. Plus I would re-decorate the cork-board, add in a desk somewhere, and have different curtains.

Sorry, I sound fussy here - don't get me wrong, it does look like the best bedroom ever! If I had it no-one would ever be able to drag me out.

By the way, why does no-one prefer Alan Rickman as Colonel Brandon? :( :( :( I haven't seen the 08 version so I can't judge, but whoever it was must have done an incredibly good job to beat Alan.

message 34: by Marren (new)

Marren | 764 comments I watched a movie one with Alan Rickman, very old movie maybe it was S&S and everyone was squealing in the comments and I could not figure why. One person told me, it's ok, I do not understand, hehe...

IKR! It is like the awesomest bedroom ever except for the fact it is super duper messy!
Sorry, I'm a bit of an organizing freak.

Sophie | 2624 comments Mod
Agree! Need to be tidied!

I don't prefer one over the other. I love them both! But, Morrissey did do an amazing job and defo met Rickman's high standards!

message 37: by Marren (new)

Marren | 764 comments My bedroom looked almost like that at university especially the last night before a paper was due. Wellll, there was less books of course... :D but the books I had were everywhere..ahh the memories *sigh*..

Good to know. :) Though I must say I do find it hard to believe that he met Rickman's standards, but I will reserve judgement. :)

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

I think it is in my genes, cause my mom is an organizing freak too.

message 41: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Louise Smith (sarahlouisesmith) I tried to create that 'book shelves everywhere' look in my house. I have a wall dedicated to books, plus more in the hall and my bedroom... can't get enough books! I've still run out of space for them all! I love to see them all lined up on a shelf, as neatly as possible though :)

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

When we moved into our new home we had about twelve boxes of books ALONE.
I love my family.

I think both Brandon's are well cast and do a good job, so they're equal for me...

I don't want to brag, but I saw Alan Rickman in a play once ;) He was very good.

OMG OMG OMG you saw Alan in a play! I am so jealous right now! I really want his autograph, and so hope if I ever by some chance meet him I don't turn into the fainting fan-girl, but actually manage intelligent conversation. I'm way away from Europe though, so it's not likely :'(.

What was the play? What was it like?

Btw, sorry everyone else for the little detour off Jane Austen. :)

message 47: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Louise Smith (sarahlouisesmith) It was Antony & Cleopatra and it was performed in London. Helen Mirren played Cleopatra, and it was very, very good. I was studying the play at school so I think it just have been around 1998...

message 50: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Louise Smith (sarahlouisesmith) Yes, just picture Alan as Antony :)
