what do you love about this book?

i loved this book sooooo much, seriously one of the best books i read this year, but what i want to know is what you loved about? scene, characters, quote? anyhting that you loved about this book.

Favourite quote, which admittedly may not make a lot of sense out of context, but I feel perfectly captures the chapter it closes and to an extent the novel as a whole:
"Behind his shoulder, in the painting, smoke innocently rises from a farmhouse chimney and a woman runs - her face tilted upwards in terror."

Such a fittingly eerie image for such a beautifully tragic novel.
What I certainly liked best about the book is the loving relationship her father kept to her, even through the times when she sure was hard to love. :)
