Hello everyone,

I am thinking of adding a tab to my blog dealing with listing books that are a good deal. I know that there is a plethora of books that can be found on Amazon for 2.99 and below, but I figured I could have a tab and possibly include a link to my review, if I have done one, for the books. If you are interested in being included please leave a comment here with an Amazon link to your book as well as the price point, 2.99 and under only for now. Also please do not include it if there is a limited time sale or something. I'm not looking to have to spend a lot of time updating this list for price variations so I'd like to have only books that should have a static price for at least several months.

I figured my format would look something like this:

FREE
Hemlock and the Wizard Tower by (review link)
Bakkian I by (review link)

.99
Demon Wars by (review link)

etc...

Very basic idea of what it would look like obviously the books would be Amazon links and Goodreads didn't like what I tried to do with spacing, but you get the idea.

**UPDATE** This is a service I am offering active group members. If you are a new member of the group please participate a bit before letting me know about your book. If you only have a single comment and that is to try to get your book listed, I will not be including the link.

Sure, I'm game!

Bakkian Chronicles, Book I - The Prophecy is presently free!

The link: http://www.amazon.com/Bakkian-Chronic...

Bakkian Chronicles, Book II - Insurrection is $2.99.

The link: http://www.amazon.com/Bakkian-Chronic...

Book III will actually be listed for $3.99. Everyone's prices was higher this time. *sigh*

I didn't see anything about an extra fee for your book Steph. I'll be sure to include it when I get the list put together.

Keep them coming guys, it's basically a spot for some free advertising take advantage!!

We'd love to include Journeys of Wonder Volume 1 on the list which is priced at 99 cents.

We're still playing with price points on volume 2, but once we settle we can give you that as well - at most it should be $2.99.

Thanks!

Steph, I'm finally getting around to formatting this page and I see on Amazon your book is .99 now. Is that a permanent or a temporary thing?

We're still experimenting. We're going to try a $2.99 price point for November, but I'm not sure how beneficial that will be so we might be back to 99 cents after that.

Thanks for putting this together!

Hey, just joined this group today. Thanks, Scott. It's really helpful for writers and I bet a lot of potential readers find it useful too.

Bane of Souls is priced at $0.99, I think*:
http://www.amazon.com/Bane-of-Souls-e...

*I realise 'thinking' I know the price of my own book makes me sound like a simpleton, but I believe the price is $0.99 for Americans and $1.23 for Britons (I'm British) because of our national sales tax (VAT). I checked Journey's of Wonder and Klondaeg the Monster Hunter (both listed as $0.99) and they appeared to be more than $0.99 for me.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Thaddeus, most people from the UK would use the Amazon UK store, I think, and there your book is priced at 77p. I'm Australian and have to use Amazon.com, because we don't have our own store, and for me your book is 99c. I'm not sure about other countries like Canada, but I think the people there would know a 99c list price is more for them, as they would be used to it for any books from Amazon. I hope that makes sense :)

Fascinating. So in the UK, the tax is rolled into the listed price? In the US, they add it on at the register. (In a cruel attempt to make things look cheaper than they really are.)

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, on Amazon UK it says "includes VAT" in the price. In Australia tax is always included in the price of everything, too. We never see prices with a separate figure for tax. I'd find that really weird, because I'm not used to it :)

message 24: by Scott, Fabled Reviewer o' Tales! (new)

Scott (Bookblogger) | 1315 comments Mod
That is another aspect of the international thing that I had never considered. The books are still pretty cheap though so I'll keep the heading. I can never see the Kindle price in the UK store and never thought to check a conversion rate so I never would have known about the difference without the info.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

If you want to see prices in the UK store you have to be logged out of it. If you log out of Amazon UK you should still be logged into Amazon US, even though it's the same account details. You just can't see the UK prices on Amazon UK if you're logged in, if that's not your country.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't know if this is useful, but there is a way on Amazon.com to see the prices of books for other countries. It's a bit of a pain, but here's how:

1. Sign out. It will ask you to sign in straight away, but just go to the home page of Amazon.

2. In the "Shop by department" menu, go to "Kindle" then pick "Kindle books."

3. It says "Your country or region" on the top left. Pick whatever country you want from the list and click "Go."

You can then search for any book and see the prices that people of that country would have to pay.

I picked UK and a 99c book is $1.23 US including VAT tax. It's in US dollars, and the price is simply 77p converted to US dollars. The thing is, people from the UK would just use Amazon UK. It's the same price for UK customers wherever they buy from, but on Amazon UK they pay in their currency.

I chose Canada and 99c books were the same.

I think it's safe to just list the book at the US price, and link to Amazon.com. People from the UK should know they can get the books in their currency at Amazon UK, and a lot of other countries would just be paying e.g. 99c anyway, if they have to use Amazon.com. They just have to pay in US dollars, like me in Australia. I hope this wasn't the most confusing post in the universe :)

Sorry - only just seen your post. It's supposed to be temporary. I ran a short offer for Hollow Moon at the end of October but for some reason Amazon has maintained the lower price. It's $2.99 / £1.99 everywhere else.

In that case I'll include it under the 2.99 label and if people get it cheaper they'll only be happy about that.

Updated and included.

The page has been updated to include your books Geoffrey and Steve.

I do use Amazon associates and I'm trying to figure ways to get a bit more income from it. My blog just hit 60,000 lifetime views and gets a couple hundred associate clicks a month, but it takes a lot of purchases when each one tends to be less than .20 for me lol.

Geoffrey Wakeling | 21 comments @Scott Yes, I supposed that's the downside of having cheaper books for offer as your cut is always going to be small. :/

It's the same with the virtual bookshop that I run in Second Life. Lots of clicks and quite a few purchases, but mostly only get 20cents or so for each transaction. Still, better than nothing.
